Will I never learn?

Paint code is 146 - alpine White. Halfords will mix you 1/2 litre or make up a spray can.

Just called into Halfords. They can only sell the mixed paint in 100ml bottles now. supplying 146 in a spray can isn't a problem. a 100ml bottle is £10

Hex Holdings mixed me a half litre of paint, and sold me a gallon of panel wipe, a tin of bondex promotor, and 2 sheets of 1200 grade paper for £58 including the VAT :thumb2

Just hope I can remember how to spray properly :D

After spending hours filling and sanding I'm on the road to completion - still need to spray the fork legs and fit gaiters :thumb2

I'd forgotten just how much of a mess spraying makes..

Hopefully the lines will look better once the new seats fitted. There's a six week wait for seats from Motorworks so if anybody has a good mono G/s seat for sale let me know.

Looking very nice, Rob.

However . . I am intrigued by the lump of corroded machinery at bottom left of the picture.

What was / is / will be that then ??

(From one who can't resist picking up old bits of machinery :blast )

Bob.

The Irish contingent would be proud of me. It's a tree stump with a fencing post nailed to it, there's another piece of fencing post, with old clothes taped on, nailed on to make a t. Makes a great support for spraying tanks and mudguards.

:blast

And there was me thinking it was an old gearbox that had been unearthed somewhere :D :D

A fine bit of Engineering never the less - we wouldn't expect anything less from you Rob.

Looking great Rob :thumb2

Hasn't everyone got a 'big log and stick' spraying stand? :D

I thought it was a thre year old 1200:blast:D:D

If I ever talk about spraying anything again feel free to give me a good kick..I'd forgotten how much of a pain in the arse it is. £85 to spray a whole bike and enough paint and clearcoat left over to spray another is nice though

Got a decent finish on the paint, nice and shiny with good depth. The bad news is the colours not what it should be :( being as the tanks only a temporary job I'm not too bothered but it means it's all got to be done again once I source all the bits I want.

Still a lot to do. Seats been ordered from Germany - Motorworks told me the suppliers were quoting a six week delivery but I've ordered one from Germany and it's been posted straight away - Somebody is telling porkys  it's also £40 cheaper even with the postage so that's Motorwork's off my supplier list.
Proffs sending me an ST tank (He's a good old fart :D)
Carbs to be vapour blasted and ultrasonically cleaned
Front wheel needs a rebuild
Heads need to go to Scriminger

Starting my new job on Monday so things will slow down a bit

Rob, If you can work wonders with gearboxes. How come you don't seem too keen to have a go at your heads? They can't be anywhere near as complex, can they? :nenau

Val.

Val,

The heads are from an early 80's RS and have valve seat regression, fitting and grinding the seats is pretty involved. I'll have new guides and valves while I'm at it, the guides will need reaming out. I'm not geared up for any of this. TBH for what Steve Scriminger charges and how infrequently I have it done it's not worth buying any kit to do it.

Gearboxes are easy as long as you have a shimming plate and can compress the spring on the input shaft.

Things have ground to a halt since I started my new job but a a shiney new seats just been fitted. Heads are boxed up ready to be posted to Moorespeed (a spare pair fitted to hold it all together).

The wirings all done and just needs indicators fitting. Front end still needs pulling apart for painting and the front wheel needs a rebuild.

As soon as the heads come back I'll be firing it up

That tanks scrubbed up well :bow

Looks proper with the indents, matches the seat line :thumb2

:D That's the R65 tank Proff. It's the light catching it that makes it look like it's got the indents. I haven't had a chance to start on the Tank you gave me.

:

YES :thumb2 3 years ago, you let me have it...
He got it for same price, GRATIS and it was delivered ......
I'm just a parts repository :rob

I knew it would help a good tosser out, and Robs one of the best :comfort

Sorry to beat off topic.. but did you get my PM regarding the rack Proff? Not sure if your inbox was full at the time :nenau Cheers, Benjamin :thumb
