I have just changed the clutch pack and plate, and unfortunately when putting it all back together I did not clip the gear selector switch fully into it's mount.
It came off when I was over 100 miles from home,.
I know something had happened because the gears were not being show on the RID.
After stopping and taking a look it was sitting on the exhaust and I could not get to it, so there it stayed until I got home, (having to pull the clutch in to start).
Halfway back I knew something had gone more wrong as the whole display went out.
On getting home the switch had melted on the exhaust.
I ordered a new switch, and prior to putting the whole thing back I tested it.
On plugging it back in the gear showed "0" and the neutral light came on, but rotating the switch turned off the light and "0" but no other gears were shown.
The tank was off at this point, so I just sat it on the bike and connected the electrics up.
When in neutral it all works fine, the fuel pump can be heard to prime, but rotating the switch again turns off the light and the "0", the fuel pump stops, but nothing is shown in the gear window.
The fuel level is also working.
Any ideas why the other gears are not being shown?
Has anyone got a diagram of what pins do what so that I can check continuity please?

The switch switches earths to put the various gear indicator on the RID. Some of the lines must not be ground (earthed) in order for the RID to display correctly.
It looks like all your wires are fused together as one earth.

This is a diagram I mapped out for myself some time ago.

Basically if you ground (earth) pins 1, 2, and 4 of the RID connector it will display 1 for first gear.
This corresponds to pins 1, 3 and 4 of the gear selector cable connector being ground and pin 2 floating.

The diagram doesn’t show pin 5 of the switch as this is the neutral switch, I only mapped the gear indication.IMG_0699.jpeg
