Bike came back from service with this wire hanging around loose under the seat. Looks like it should be plugged in somewhere.

Anyone any ideas whats its for ? - everything electrical seems to work Ok on the bike though.

Cheers

Paul

Would need to have a closer look at the wiring on my bike to confirm exactly which 1 it is, but there are 2 wires that may be disconnected under the seat.

If you have a non-abs bike it could be a permanently live connection to the battery. This wire connects to the accessory socket that they only fit to ABS bikes. I bought a socket from an auto accessory shop for £5. A bit cheaper than the bmw price.

The other possibility is a live, switched through the ignition. On the US bikes this operates a solenoid to close the vent to the charcoal canister for emissions control. The main wiring loom is standard and the plug is there on UK bikes without the cannister.

I think it is the 1st as I'm certain the 2nd wire is further back, but would need to pull my seat to confirm, or you could put a multi meter to it. Don't worry, it's meant to be there.

Its a non ABS bike.

I think its likely a live feed thou I don't have a meter to test it. I've got an accessory socket which I've never got round to fitting so that could be a another job for tomorrow.

+1................looks like the accessory socket connector feed, into the loom:D

It is indeed. Accessory socket is about £7. It's what i;ve done with mine on advice from someone in the "know"....

if nothing else it helps tidy things up :thumb2
