WP suspension trouble shooting guide

I've played around with mine a bit and got it pretty much where I want it, and it's sort of set up for quick B road riding. It's a bit different from when you rode it, but not by much. I'm surprised how sensitive it is - just one click of rebound and you can instantly feel the difference, so I guess in many ways, quite hard to set up.

Once it's there though, it's an absolute delight .... :thumb2
 
I find the rear on my S model feels very good, firm and composed but also reasonably plush on the bumps, the forks OTOH feel very soggy, it rides bumps really well, but seems to dive like a first division footballer if I even think of touching the brakes, also feels a bit high at the back, but could be more that the soggy front sits low, and being the electric version I have no pre-load adjustment on the forks and cannot go any softer than the "solo" button for the rear (which feels a bit stiff)

Spoke to MCT and so far they have not touched the EDS stuff, although they may be having a look at mine before next summer, the work they did on my last 3 bikes plus the Mrs was all very good so if I do go anywhere it will be to them.
 
That's one of the reasons I went for the R - complete manual control. My forks are almost on full preload (7 out of 8 turns i think) and have very little dive whilst still being plush over the nadgery stuff .... :thumb2

Likewise.........and whilst it's been frustrating at times that's what I love, in a perverse way, about bikes like this; the need to fiddle and tinker. It's a bonding thang and gives a great feeling of satisfaction when you get it right (as well as frustration when you don't!).

We need to ride our bikes back to back again, I'd love to see how they compare :) You need to go to France................... ;)

or the fact that a big landing off road can get the back wheel to wipe out the rear mudguard/electrics. at least one example of this on ADVrider.

Interesting :)

Now Darren could have been bullshiting (but I doubt it, he's a top level rider as well as working with bikes) and said that now he's sorted the shim stacks the shock now runs quite a bit more compression (and less rebound) than the standard shock. He reckoned there was no way it'd bottom out now bar a 15ft jump which may be hyperbole but he was making a point ;)

I rode it again to work this morning and can't get over how much better it feels, there is absolutely not jolts/crashiness over sudden bumps, just rock steady, supple control - it feels great.

You reckon do you!!!! Mmmmmmmmmm...................... I hope you (and she) noticed I did the right thing and returned that crash helmet in the 'Lids' thread...... ;)

I did tell her about the suspension work as it was booked in some time ago; £300 for half a day essentially and less than the girls in the WC section spend on having their bikes 'wrapped' (or whatever it's called) in fake carbon fibre ;) . To me that's great value given the improvement it's made and how the bike is just how I want it now :)

Just like the suspension on the 690's.....................

Joking aside you have a point but to be fair to the bike the suspension is pretty good out of the box, I'm just a bit OCD about stuff like that and love to tinker, it's all part of the fun of owning a bike to me (and I know you're just the same :P) :bounce1

While It would be nice to lose the crashiness at low speed, I find going faster sorts it

Tell me about it, I'm up early for an hours tinkering the SE before work and then as soon as I'm home again, went out for a test ride tonight with 1 tooth smaller front sprocket, never ridden anything so mental! :D
