WTF?

So now I have mapsource working well on the Mac having used the conversion software...

I can plan a route and send the said route as a GPX file to others, who have successfully opened the route with mapsource on their PC's , and even Tom Tom with the conversion software.

Thing is... when I save the GPX file in my documents, if I try to open it again it doesn't open onto the page you are opening... if you know what I mean...

And when someone else sends me a GPX file I can't seem to open it?

I've also tried to open stuff on here but it downloads into my documents and once again nothing seems to happen..

Am I missing something or is it because I'm using a Mac?

Its not causing me any probs yet as the Croatia 09 trip is being sorted by me so I have the routing to send to others.... If I was on someone elses trip it may be different

Have you tried firing up MapSource from a desktop icon, then File->open. New window opens - make sure that the 'Files of type' option at the bottom of this window has 'all files' selected. Then browse to your file and 'open'.

I'm not a Mac user, so this suggestion is based on the PC version of Mapsource....

when i've tried opening routes in road trip, i find i need to use File>Import in the menu.

actually, i find road trip such a pain, i now run mapsource in windows (ugh!) using vmware fusion

weird ETA's with RoadTrip

Bryn, if you plan to use routes generated from RoadTrip for the Croatia trip, you might just try out a route in the UK first. I did 2 routes for a recent trip to Scotland and whilst the route was ok, the ETA's were coming up as 12 to 14 hours for what was only a 5 hour ride. This was the downloaded route into a 2820. Sticking with Mapsource for now using VMware or Parallels.

I'll bear the one in mind about ETA's although the Llangollen ride I did was ok...

I'll have a mess around and see if I can sort the opening stuff
