Bit the bullet and decided to fill up as got to 182 miles and thought there can’t be much left

At 71.4 mpg that should equate to 207 miles range.

I put in 11.77 litres

So I had 1.43 litres left , which at 71.4 mpg would be another 22.5 miles, so 204 total.

So the average mpg read is pretty accurate, but the last bar of fuel starts flashing a good 60 miles before you’ll run out .

The fuel used gauge on the NT is very accurate as well. It’s within 0.1 litres when I fill up.

Nah, it needs gold wheels and a black swingarm for me.

That’s good to know, 22 miles left is getting a bit close for me unless I was around town so could get fuel easily - I’m still working on it but aiming to think about fuel at 160 now so should have about 40 miles left.

is this bike comparable to the GS at all? Would it 'keep up' with a GS in the Pyrenees / Picos, or is it a different type of trip - I can't see a group holiday of GS / tigers / and the ADV being comparable for a days riding together - or is the ADV better than the sum of?

That really depends on the rider/s I would guess.

Thought I’d done with farkling but decided I’d increase luggage capacity a tad .I’m taking the ADV to the Pyrenees and Alps next May and was planning to use the Dusc top box and one of my Enduristan roll bags on pillion seat .
I don’t want panniers really as would look too wide and possibly fuck up handling a bit .

I could simply buy the SW Motech Pro Side Carriers for the bike then use my Dusc luggage that I use on Vstrom.
But it would be very wide and overkill .

Then I came across the Givi 15 litre Canyon soft bags and quick release frames which would be perfect for small stuff like Scott waterproofs and base layers etc .

Pretty good value at about £250 delivered in total so order placed .

Ordered Wednesday lunchtime-the bags from Sportsbikeshop and the rails/fittings from Carpi Moto in Milan.
Both arrived today at midday. Just under 48 hours from ordering .Pretty impressive.

Fairly simple to fit and I quite like the way it works.
There’s a heat shield /deflector on the exhaust side and you simply clip the rails in to the quick release brackets then fit the panniers ,with straps under the seat and around the rails .
Pretty much ideal size for what I wanted and not too wide.
Shame the rails don’t slide into pockets at the back of the panniers but they are a universal for for a number of bikes.

The X-ADV will easily keep up with GSs in the Picos. I’m doing exactly that next year , riding around Picos then entire length of N260 along Pyrenees , then Millau,Verdon Gorge, Vercors.
Mate will be on 1250GS.

Good to hear - just done the N260 from Llo (via Lourdes and 5 tdf stages) essentially along to Santander - great roads and surprisingly unknown I think

Those rails look a great job being simple and quick to fit or remove.

Aoocci C3 fitted. Only £53 and came with TPMS sensors too.
I seem to recall paying £50 to Chigee to add on the TPMS and these are exactly the same , bundled with the unit for a similar price to just the Chigee sensors !



Aoocci have upped their game.
The mounting bracket is a much better design to the ones I had with my C6s

That looks like a really good choice for luggage and very convenient. They look easily as big as the inner bags on a GS with the plastic OEM luggage, would you say they carry as much as those in the way of clothing? I want to do a two up tour to Italy and Croatia and am looking for the best luggage for our needs. Thankfully my wife is happy to travel light.
