What have you done to yours......................can they be a 'modfest':toungincheek

3000 miles and 2 years old and almost all has been offroad trail use and the bike has withstood it well

Mine has .................

BMW

Handguards - Tough but look crap
Sprocket Guard - Good and keeps chain easy to clean
Master cylinder cover - 'spose it may work
Frameguard - Excellent and protects plastic tank from bootwear
Headlight Cover - Functional and easy to remove
F650 GS Gear Lever - cheap bendy steel to save the shaft
12v Power Socket - essential for the Optimate (for the incredibly small and weak battery)
Black seat from the XMoto - for that 'toned down' look:augie

Touratech

Small Alloy Rear Carrier - enough for a pack bag or tin of beans
Large Alloy Bashplate - essential engine proctection (however I've had to have mine alloy welded to strengthen it up:blast)
Rear Chainguard - must have to stop the chain coming off
Rear Disc Guard - again esstential and judging by the marks on mine, it has saved the disc from damage on many rocky trails
Foam Airfilter - essential dirt bike stuff
14t front sprocket - better for the trails

R&G

Tailtidy - the original no. plate carrier broke and this is a much better arrangement and stronger too. I used F650 type rear indicators and it's sorted by wiring it with a BMW harness plug to the original loom

Pivotpegz - much stronger than the original cast BMW ones and help you reach the controls with MX boots on

HG
Tuareg rack bag and bar bag - excellent items

Luggage

I'm using a combination of Wolfman Tankbag and Side tank panniers, plus a TT HP2 rear seat bag and all works ok. For longer distances I'd use the excellent DirtBagz set-up

Tyres

It has to be Pirelli MT21's - about 3000 miles for a set

To do list

Screen - not much about and the one I've tried is too big - so may try a small one from 'The Jester'

Heated Grips - try the Winding Roads set up

Rear Shock - I reckon I'll have to change to a Hyperpro or Ohlins/Wilbers

Exhaust - I'll change to the Leo Vince set up from what i've seen and more importantly, heard lately - well made and not too offensive

Apart from that the bike's ok

What's everybody else done to theirs??

I've done a few of the mods that you have, but by far the best one to date has been the Leo Vince end can.

I think I may be addicted to the sound! :drool

Worst mod has been the TT gearlever, it lasted a morning off road, had a little off and the bloody lever was knackered. (saves paying for a new gearbox shaft though)

Next mod will be the rear shock.

I had the TT tail tidy............but I modified it today with some large rocks :blast

I need to buy a new number plate now :toungincheek

Mine is much the same as Johnny's really

BMW
Handguards

Touratech
Hard Part side stand
Rear mudguard
Folding brake lever fixing kit
Headlight Grill
Gear Lever - bent it 1st time out with it.
Large alloy rack and tailpack. Grab handles on the rack good for pulling bike out of ditches etc
Large Alloy Bashplate - essential
Rear Chainguide
Rear Disc Guard - dented now so I guess it works.

Other stuff
14t front sprocket - makes a big difference off road.
12v Power Socket - not fitted yet
Pivotpegz - quite a revelation these. Just so much easier with your MX boots on

Luggage
DirtBagz set-up from Adventure-spec.com

Tyres
MT21's

To do list

Much the same as Johnny's really.

Some sort of screen.
Comfy seat
Heated grips
Conventional rear shock
Xtank or TT Tank
Exhaust - not sure about changing as I like it be quiet as it mostly gets used on the trails.

However if I continue moding it then its only going to get heavier and then I will have to buy a 450x as well so I have a nice lightweight bike to play with ... prices on these are looking so much more tempting now...

Paul

To do:

Fix the broken tail tidy, number plate and mirror
Fix the oil leak
Get the airshock replaced becuase it is rubbing on the plastic protector
New rear tyre
Possibly get and extra fuel tank but not going to pay loads for it
More comfy seat??? probably not Airhawk does a good job

One of the best mods that I was advised to do was wearing cycling shorts under me mx trousers, not sure if it was on here or on advrider, but it works brilliant and has saved me 250 euros on the kahedo/renzaco seat.:D

Where's your oil leak, David??

The best Tail Tidy is R&G:thumb.................expensive but much better than the expensive but useless TT offering:blast

There is evidence of oil blowing out from the gaskets on both sides of the engine, the loss is not noticable and there is not a pool of oil in the sump guard, so I am assume the gaskets have blown for some reason. Need to get it into the delear for a look - little concerned why it has happened, perhaps a blocked breather (if they have one).

Not going to replace the tail tidy, there is enough of it left to fix an ally plate to so will mount the number on that.

Same thing happened to a lad I know and he got the head taken off and and the gaskets replaced under warranty, the
bike uses a bit more oil when under pressure than mine does, then again I don't put my bike under as much pressure.

Mods:

Lighter Exhaust (Modified XT500)
Bulb type tail light
Acerbis front mudguard
XCountry rear shock
Homemade Luggage Rack
Handle-bar risers (40mm homemade)
Removed sidestand switch (my 4th one.)
Disconnected "full-beam" on headlight (only dims work now)
TT Petrol Tank
BarkBusters
Sump Guard (homemade)
Took as much delicate plastic off as possible.
Tyres: Comp3 and Comp4

Great bloody bikes...
:thumb2

How have you found the XCountry shock compared to the standard air shock

How have you found the XCountry shock compared to the standard air shock
I'm not sure I ride well enough to know the difference, but it seems to work well enough and doesn't have the downsides the standard shock has, (ie. ejects upon braking and not helpful for dabbing) I suppose it's unlikely to be as good as the stock part but I don't mind.

you obviously haven't met our Dave :augie

Dave, that's what the black twisty thing under the seat is for. It also has a dipstick attached :D

:dabone:dabone

There was me thinking the only dipstick was the rider!!

I did check the oil a while ago..............albeit without reading the rather complex oil checking proccess described in the manual :D checked it again after noticing the oil and yes it was a little high, and no I have not topped it up.:blast

My chain is a little slack - Stu could you come round and sort it for me? Thanks :thumb

:D

I've hardly done any mods to mine.

The ones i have done have been:

Fit F650 gear lever- the original is so exposed ..

TT chain guide.

Renthal bars and acerbis brush guards

Rim locks.

some super trendy dents in the silencer...

apart from that it's just been ridden:aidan

Does anyone have the TT mudguard extension?

Does it work - I know its expensive but I prefer the look of it to some of the homemade jobs.

I remember some fella on AdvRider had one fitted, can't remember his name but there was a
photo of it fitted in his post. If I find it I'll let ya know.:thumb2
