XCountry - Scumbags stole my instrument cluster

Did BMW give you a goodwill replacement or discount? Or did they just empty your wallet?

Expensive? Hopefully Bilko and Mark Hooton will have a bracket for us soon. Who would be interested in one?

Quite possibly something I would be interested in if instrument panel nicking is commonplace.

Definitely me....hopefully before the next one is nicked.

Anyone had any thoughts on the issues I have with the new cluster? Its showing KPH do I need to get it reset by a dealer?

Procedure for changing speedometer from KMH to MPH or vice versa
1. disconnect battery
2. turn ignition on
3. hold down mode key
4. keep mode key pressed & connect battery power
5. digital display will go through one digital reading
6. the next two readings (on mine) were kmh & then mph, when you see the new reading you want, release mode key.

Thanks. That worked a treat its on MPH now. Leaving it as 17" wheel is correct isn't it? I'm assuming it relates to the rear not the front wheel. I don't suppose it can be set to the mileage the bike had down when it was nicked?

Hi Guys
Just a quick heads up on the instrument cluster protector. I've got a meeting on Saturday morning with Mark Hooton to have a look at the problem and try and come up with something that will work, look right and not look like dogs bollocks.
Cheers
Malc

Prior to going to see Mark I spent a couple of hours looking at how I would solve the problem of retaining the instrument cluster and had a chat to both Micky and JB about it. Saturday morning I went to see Mark, he had a good look at it, pondered over a coffee and came to the same conclusion that I had and that there is no simple solution to this, because there is nothing to securely fit a security cover to without causing damage to the indicators and the bike. So with this one I'm afraid, it's back to the drawing board until someone has an idea. Sorry guys :(

Thanks for at least trying Malc.....

Really appreciate the effort you put in. Just have to keep my bike cover on when away from home

How easy is it to remove the cluster without damaging it? My bike has previously had a replacement at 4k miles for some reason or another.

I want to fabricate a gps mount behind them (by that I mean get some metal, bend it by hand, drill a hole or two and attach it).

Touratech make some pretty snazzy lockable gps mounts, mine is a Garmin 78. Maybe they could see a market at a price?
