Whats the best comfort seat you can get for the g650 and where. I have found a few places but so far not much info on the seats how comfy or how good they are if anyone can help/ recommend that would be great

I can't vouch for the tony archer offerings, but i've done over 8000 miles on my Rayz seat now during my last trip.

It took a little getting used to, but after the first week or so i didn't notice any discomfort at all, even at the end of the day. I guess thats the good thing about a seat being right, it's when you don't notice it for the wrong reasons you know you have good one.

I Know rayz seats aren't the cheapest, but i definitely think you get what you pay for here.

No problems at all. :thumby:

How did you find dealing with him? I sent him a two emails and got a feeling like he's too busy or not interested in doing the job. I was asking for a quote but he didnt even write back:nenau

i was quoted:

8 hours labour @ 240 euro
materials including special cell foam @145 euro

and tax at 21%, which added on another 80 euro.

i did have a few problems with email contact with ray, but the workmanship and service i couldn't fault. The seat must have been covered the day it arrived with him, because it was only a week from posting it out, to getting it back.

If your still unsure how about giving him a call?

I have a Tony Archer modded seat on my XC and it seems fine much better than a standard seat

I just called Tony Archer to inquire about making my XC standard seat more comfortable and, if possible, reduce the height by 1" or so.
The general answer was 'tell me what you want and we'll do it'.
Great but what I would like is the above...
Can you pls tell me what material you asked for, is the seat width the same or wider, changed height, other specs? Thanks.

Oddly enough I have the low seat version and I find that much more comfortable than the standard one...

+1. In fact I have tried unsuccessfully to get a low seat configuration (where it must be low due to my legs being short) and have given up. I am getting my low seat recovered with leather instead of the plastic stiff which I find too hot on long runs. I will live with that setup.

I know alot of people on this forum have been very happy with the results from Tony Archer....I am not one of them.

i had my seat done by tony archer, its comfy enough for road and motorway stuff but not really ideal for any laning, im local and had to take mine back for a bit of restitching, wouldnt of been happy had i not been local,
overall quality is good but bear in mind with the stitching and material used its not very waterproof.
he does loads of these seats so unless you tell him your specific needs it will just be the bog standard design that you see on the forums, in your specific colours.
think im prefering the low seat option now

Thanks. I'll stick with the low seat and think of recovering it once it needs it. Amazing how a seat with less height is more comfortable, or not as bad. Cheers.

After much pondering, I tried the Rayz option. Very costly as I had it shipped to Canada. Workmanship is top notch but for a large guy like me it justdid not cut it. If I was 20 it would have been fine but over 40 long distance seat comfort is much harder to achieve.

I also don't feel that Ray paid much attention to my requests regarding seating position.

I believe the vibration in these single cylinder bikes makes it that much harder to make a comfortable highway seat. I have made my own seats in the past and I have gone back to that route which much better results.

I have little faith in ordering any seat now. I think you need to fit, try it , adjust fit, etc. until you get it just right.

Just my 2 cents.
