After 8 years I am ready for a change (nothing wrong with the BMW Adventure/Montana 600) so the question is is the XT2 better than XT? Does the XT has a 3.5mm port? Or only Bluetooth option.

I'm pretty sure both have Bluetooth only. As for which is "better" that I'd say is what do you intend to do with it? Will you be riding in groups and want to easily keep track of each other, then the XT2 sounds the better bet. XT has it's foibles, which Garmin don't seem to be moving quickly to correct. Probably as they have beta testers now with the XT2 and it's keeping them busy.

There's an XT / XT2 users group on Facebook, or the zumo users forums might give a better opinion than me. Personally, I don't see me changing to the XT2 and certainly don't see the value for me in paying out a couple of hundred pounds for the XT2.

XT2 is based on tread, and works off their new platform which has gremlins people are working through. unless you need the minimal extra features it carries, save some £ and get the XT

Just sent my XT2 back 'cos it does not support transferring routes via bluetooth. Looks like they have decided to ditch any backward compatibility with their older devices in favour of more mobile phone integration etc. Great if you ride alone or don't need to integrate in any way with other riders. Note that the XT2 is also not supported on MACs.

I’d go for the XT1, especially if I wanted or needed to easily transfer routes to others.

I have spent literally thousands on garmins over the years. These days, I use a phone...
