I shouldn`t even be asking this,it`s such a bodge, but my neighbour`s got an oil leak on his bike ( a Suzuki GS500 ) and can`t be arsed doing a proper repair and is too much of a mingebag to pay someone to fix it.

It`s a very slight weep of oil as the engine warms up...but obviously it starts to 'pool' and then drips.
The rough arsed, idle mingebag asked if I had any sealant he could use to put over the dodgy area...... :eek :eek :mmmm :mmmm

I don`t think anything will sort it,as the leak is from the base gasket  (although there`s no gas leak,or 'blowing' ), but ....on the offchance....does anyone know of anything that may actually seal it ???

Gawd...some people......... :D :D

There's a paste in a tube for sealing, fuel tanks, radiators etc, might be called 'Leak Fix'. You probably know this but, if you can clean the area, (very important) and create a little 'V' it may do the trick.

I love a good bodge. I did my apprenticeship with Rolls Royce as an engine fitter, they had signs up everywhere saying 'RR quality is our business', I still cringe at myself when bodging but enjoy the satisfaction of a good'un.

Its a long time since I worked on the Suzuki GS range(and then only 750/850/1000), but I remember that if the camchain/tensioner has failed/badly worn, this can shave enough material away for the base gasket to fail, if thats the case i doubt any amount of sealer will fix it :(

Mind you these liquid metal products available nowadays arn't too bad

Bodgit and Scram

sometimes....
virtually anything with the consistency of chewing gum - e.g; chewing gum (no, really! - it worked on an old bike of mine yonks ago, to seal a fuel tank), chemical metal, epoxy resin, _specialist_ silicone sealants, even isopon (worked for me on a sheared oil carrying casing mount on a lightweight Suzuki 2 stroke).....sometimes.

got to be Really Really clean to start with though.

good luck :thumb

That little stick, Oyltite Stik is wonderfull stuff, yes it will fix bottom end gaskets as my mate used to all the time on his 750/4, but more important we used to use it in the RAF to quick seal leaks from the fuel tanks that were integral to the wings, I.E no bag inside, and it worked on them fine :thumb

Loctite do a gasket sealer product which might do the trick. It worked on my 93 Harley Sportster which had a slight leak from the primary transmission case. I just smeared some into the area of the weep and cured and did the trick.

Wynnes, as in Wynnes for oil. used to do a can of stuff you put in with the oil and it would fix oil seals, i used it on a 70's mini to fix a timming case oil leak :thumb good stuff it worked by expanding the seal a little. So if it is a rubber ring in the gasket it should work. Good bodge for a qwik sale
