► Tyre choices and emergency repairs

Here's the thing ... I was talking with Paul from the distributor, who said the M&S version of the tyre was stickier than the regular .... TBH, my 'Wings have worn at the same rate front and rear, and it's not been too painful buying a pair when I'd expect 2 rears for one front... If the Heidis do the same then I can live with that...

I paid £140 for the pair - talk nicely to Andrew like I did lol.. you know what I'm saying...

HOWEVER ... I didn't realise til I looked at the tyres that they are Tubeless aaarh! Not so much of a problem, but they might be a little hard to persuade off the bead next time they come off. I've slimed up so I'm not expecting punctures or anything... but if they do a Tubed type it would be well worth getting it instead.

wots dynabeads then?

shouldnt you have to balance a wheel even after fixing a puncture? how does that work if youre out on the road somewhere?

That's the beauty of dynabeads - they will balance your wheel after roadside repairs...in fact, for the life of the tyre as it wears.

Currently done 4000 miles on my K60's, and they're about half worn.

I went for the M&S, and it has been great on everything from motorway cruising through Spain and France, to off road in Morocco.

Best place to purchase rear Battlewing

Like the title suggests, where's the best / cheapest place to pick up a rear Battlewing for my F800GS (Yellow... the faster one :augie)

Was contemplating taking one down to Greggers DIY session on the 28th before several long rides throughout March.

Have had a bit of a poke around the internet, some personal opinions will be beautiful.

Cheers,
Ben

Ben. at the end of the day battlewings arnt the best road based tyre, its a personal choice but have a good scout around and read reviews, i prefer the trail type as in karoo 2t or the tkc80 however i do a lot of trails. try going to the quick links at the top of the 650/800 page. i am sure yuo will find more than enough info.
+1 for the yellow 800 being faster and much more pleaseing on the eye:augie

To be honest I barely take the bugger off road so it's not really a case of tyre choice, I'm pretty happy with the Battlewings and was just wondering if anyone had found a bargain price floating around.

:D

Only the english could think a colour makes a bike go faster - Its obviously the size of the GS sticker on the bike that determines your terminal velocity!

The smaller the faster

must be an illusion, the grey tends to blend in with this dull british weather where as the yellow is noticed as it flys past.

anyhow lets get back to tyres!

Hi ben Have you tried Busters, they often do tyre Deals and the prices seem to fluctuate probably on what they want to clear!!

I had done 9500 on my tombstone Death wings, wasnt happy with them in the wet in the bends. (I also am 99.9% Tarmac to date) so went with the metzeler Tourance also recomended in the Manual.

MCN did a recent survey on Adventure tyres where it ranked number 1. there was a pie chart for each tyre on tarmac compared it had similar dry grip but twice as much wet grip, so im pleased with my choice.

I think the tyre Deals are usualy for front and Rear though :blast :thumb

Try the Michelin Anakee 2's. They have a better wear rate than the Battlewings and are far superior in the wet! They are not too bad in the snow either which surprised me :D

Ide .. if no one else bags your old tyres, I'll have them ...
I have a friend doing a trial in Awaille in a couple of weeks - is that far from you?
About 100 Km... the thing is that I won't be in Belgium at that time, from the end of february till mid March
