1 day old R1250GSA battery failure....Not happy

Can I ask?

If you've only got one leg. Does a pair of socks last twice as long?

How do socks figure in all of this?

Indeed, thus I treat myself to only the best artisan socks as I can afford them (effectively I pay half price).....and of course because I’m worth it :)

Shoes are the problem, like the Queen I need to employ a bod to wear them in for me as once they are a year old or so the one on the ‘flesh foot’ is all creased and full of character and the one on the ‘rubber foot’ still looks like new.

Put any slant on it you want its dissapointing that this should happen to such an expensive piece of kit, there's been a few with problems on here me included.I buy new bikes in the hopes this shite doesn't happen !

Price of the bike isn’t really a consideration as batteries are the same regardless of the bike price generally. It’s just rating that will alter. It’s probably a yuasa which is as good as any. Just a bad one which happens across all marques.

Stop being so rational. :D

PS Any cnut that writes:

tucked it into the cozy garage for the night

Needs shagging with a pineapple.

The reason I stated that it was garaged was to remove the possibility of it being excessively cold....
You f%@king Moronic cock Womble

So, “Shoved into the garage” will do or even “I put it into the garage”, as opposed to, “....tucked it into the cozy garage for the night”. It’s a motorbike, a vehicle (all be it one with a suddenly flat battery) not a horse, an awesome steed and certainly not a baby.

Enjoy your bike now it’s got its new battery and try not to boil inside, no matter how great (or little) the provocation.

Under the sale of goods act, you are entitled to compensation as the vehicle was not fit for purpose as delivered.

An email explaining the facts, and time of delay for the bikes return, asking for compensation. An email is easily transferred to BMW Customer Services.

But don't accept no for an answer and certainly refuse a KTM as recompense.

ps. I have some previous. I rejected a £250k car that failed as I drove it away from the garage on day one! The law is on the consumer's side especially if you establish the vehicle was not fit for purpose.

What a load of old bollox. Of course his bike was fit for purpose...........his bloody battery failed FFS. He called them, they took it away and are replacing it.

It's bad luck and his a bit pissed off but compensation??? Really???

No wonder people take the piss out of BMW riders..............

And what then?

Replace it, within a reasonable period whilst giving the bod a replacement bike for a day?

Sue the arse off BMW?

Boil inside?

Sulk?

Kill them all, with fire. Lots of fire?

Spend hours investigating who has ‘Pulled a stroke’ and why? Then, seek advice on how to deal with it via UKGSer?

Join the local chapter of likeminded folk?
THAT’S a fucking classy response. Wapping, you're on fire today Sir. I'm made up for you.:D

I had a battery fail on a two month old 690 Duke. When I reported it I was told KTM only guarantee batteries on their bikes for three months.

I do love people who can’t see the funny side of things and have a complete lack of self deprecation ..

Oh I think we just caught Matt on an off day. He was feeling a bit flat.

Anthropomorphism is rife in the modern world; probably as a response to the dehumanising effects of materialistic capitalism.

Aye, the nights are fair drawing in and it's getting chilly out there as well.....:rob

I don't think it is worth replying to this thread but to the OP. There is a rant section on the forum to get it off your chest, if you know where to find it. And you should have done some research on the make of bike you chose to buy - BMW - 2nd only to HD for being unreliable (if only Laverda made bikes it would be 3rd). And last but not least, this is a technical section. Ranting in here about crap is not a technical contribution.

Sorry, this is the WC section. Normal service then.

Even a thick cnut like you should realise that a battery failure is a technical topic
