Flushed with success this afternoon, after fitting my Ticker Killer, I decided to have a go at adjusting the gear lever height. Ever since I got the bike, it was a job that needed doing - it was too high for my liking - I don't like having to lift my foot to change down.

Anyway, looking at the linkage, with a threaded rod, and 2 locknuts, it seemed simple - loosen the locknuts, rotate the shaft, one way would lower, the other way raise the lever, as there is obviously a lh thread on one end, and a rh thread the other end, Right?

WRONG - all that happen was the rod screwed up and down - but the lever stayed at the same height!! I couldn't believe it - how difficult would be to be able to adjust the height by turning the rod?

In the end, I had to resort to removing the lever on the gearbox spline - wind the lever down on the rod, and put it all back together. A 20 min job that SHOULD have been a 5min one. Blo*dy Kra*ts.. :eek

Did you remove the retaining clip from the top - look closely - pull it out then lift to reove the pin - then start messing with the gear change position :thumb2

No - didn't spot the circlips - but it was a bit dirty in there. Trouble is, I didn't even spot them after I'd removed it all and cleaned it up!!

Well spotted - will remember next time!! :thumb2
