Hi

My speedo stopped working, so I had a look, the drive was well worn and the cable wasn't working at all. I replaced both but still not working - could it be the clock?

Thanks

Remove the cable from the speedo head, position it so you can see the end, then spin the front wheel by hand. If the inner part of the cable spins smoothly and freely then I would suspect the speedo. If not, recheck the drive and make sure the 'gearbox' at the front wheel is correctly fitted.

Check that the cable goes well into the speedo and gearbox at front wheel

Check the arms/lugs lugs on the metal drive piece that operates the speedo drive. It's a separate part that locates in the wheel. The arms can spread or wear down.

Just managed to get out and have a quick look - disconected the cable from the drive and spun the wheel and the 'spindle' is not moving so I guess the fault is at the wheel end and therefore these lugs. I assume they're the things which connect to the plastic gog inside the drive, if so are they available as a sperate item?

Many thanks for the help chaps.

Hello there
Long time since I have been here, which means the bike has been running fine for ages 162000km on the teller now.
Would this advice also work for a 1150 gsa ?
I noticed this morning My speedo wasn't working as I rode to work,
It was working Saturday :-)

I had new tires placed two months ago and I was wondering if the cable was looking a bit tight afterwards,
Could not remember how it was before if the cable went to the right or the left of the abs sensor.
Now its going to the right but looks tight.
If the cable is broken is it easy enough to replace and should I watch out for anything?
Thanks for any info
