when pulling up slowly behind moveing traffick my abs sounds like its trying to reset its self. the brakes work fine apart from this. it do'esnt make a noise when brakeing hard though. any idea's anybody.
My 1150 does it from time to time aswell. Usually 3 or 4 times on a good run. I find it's more common if you brake fairly heavily. I kinda figured they all do it too. Brakes work and so does the ABS. Suggest you follow the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' rule. Alternatively panic everytime you ride it cause these buggers make some real strange noises
I'm on my second 1100... the first. a 97 model did it... and so does my new(er) 99.
Brakes have never let me down... and the few times ive been aware... the ABS has come into play perfectly normally.
funny story... when I took this one for its MOT. left the bike outside and popped to the loo. Came back to find the bike wheeled inside and the tester on his knees with a torch... looking a bit white faced. He'd heard the ABS engage when he wheeled it in... and was convinced something had dropped off... or was horribly loose.
I had to wheel it in and out again so he could hear it again... only then was he convinced it was normal. Said he'd never heard owt like it before.
to be honest I would worry more if it was silent... or them lights started flashing at me. or BOTH
cheers guys.mine doe's it nearly every time i slow down . clicking on and of. i think the abs is working c'os the two red lights go out when they should.i can stand the noise its the vibrateing front lever that do'es my head in.
My 1100 does the clunk-clunk first thing when I pull away and then does it every now and then, normally when I have stopped, say at lights, then pulled away again.
My 2000 R1100GS does it every so often. I've been told by someone in the know that apparently the system checks itself to make sure everything is OK. So when we are told 'they all do that sir' it seems to be true.
