1150 or 1200 GS?

I know it`s a controversial question, but I`d still like the benefit of the great and the good of the forum! If you were to contemplate riding the Pan Am Highway solo, would there be an obvious choice between an 1150 or a 1200 in terms of reliability, serviceability and any other factors that might have a bearing?
Advice/guidance appreciated!

Hi Elevensies! Truth is I already have a 1200 and it`s been back to the dealers so many times with various electrical faults I`m losing faith. I just wondered whether an 1150 would be more "sensible" given the kind of trip I`m thinking of?

Wouldn't a 600cc single be more "sensible" if you're doing the trip solo? Picking up a 1150 or 1200 isn't exactly easy on your own.

Bt of practice of the lifting technique and should not be too difficult. Even i who makes Mr Bean look like Arnie can get my 1150 up off its arse when it decides to lie down....

On a muddy road will amke it even more "interesting". And if you dropped it at the rate that Charlie and Ewan did on the LWR, would you be able to pick up the bike at the end of a long day, without the film crew helping?

I have a mate that has just sold an air head to get a R1100gs and landed up with a 1200. I thought he was going forward not Backwards
