1150 twin spark in a single spark rs

Hi all,
as the title suggests,
I've got a fooked engine in an 03 1150 RS, was wondering if anyone has ever fitted a twinspark lump to a single spark bike??
Is it possible (electrically wise)?
What do I need extra, apart from the dual coil pack?
Where can I tee-off for the signal??

or if anyone has a lowish milage 1150 single spark for sale I be interested, must be in good condition. Its for the above bike.

I've got a spare twin spark loom from an 04 1150 ADV,
are they the same?, the other possible complication is that the RS is a non ABS model, does this matter??

ISTR the ECU is different, so you'll need that as well. It fires the secondary plugs slightly later than the primaries, to clean up the exhaust gases.

I've been acquiring the parts needed to do this, myself, but never got around to finishing it. I didn't want to go to the lengths of a new loom/ECU as I'm not bothered about the emmissions. I wanted to make both plugs in each cylinder fire simultaneously, so I've got another pair of GS coils & the lead to connect them in parallel with the existing ones.

BTW, the last bits I need are the valve gear & cams. How good are the ones on your bust engine? I've got a pair of low mileage R1100S heads in really good condition. They have valves fitted, but no rockers, cams or retaining brackets.

Hi Paul,

I'm not sure what condition the rockers are in,
I bought the bike as a non runner, engine trouble,
I got it started no problem and upper running gear sounds OK.
But there is a serious, possibly, terminal noise coming from deep in the engine,near front, possibly small ends??, as the oil pressure seems OK??.
I'll try this weekend to strip the heads off and have a look at the crank, if it needs replacing I'll look for another engine. Is it possible to run the twin spark engine on the old ignition set up? ie; with the single spark leads?
That sounds like what you are trying to do.
If I go for another engine you've got 1st dibs on the rocker assemblies if they're any use to you.
