The oil temperature sensor was only just nipped up and it looked like the oil may have been coming from there. The bike is filthy after Ireland last weekend and when I took the tank off I noticed that there is a misting of oil over the top of the engine and down both sides of the crankcases. A little oil goes a long way and over the 800 or so miles I did last weekend the oil level has moved from the top of the sight glass to about 1/3 from the top which is around it's normal rate of consumption. Is there anything else that may be causing the misting rather than a not fully tightned oil temperature sensor? I sort of suspect if may well be something else so I'm looking for a few pointers or my mind putting at rest.

Cheers

Is the gasket ok on the oil temp ?

Is the crankcase oil breather hose secured and OK.
Thats all i can suggest without looking

As I said in the other thread I'm in the process of cleaning at the mo so I'll run it up when I'm done and take a look.

Thanks for the tips

Cheers

Did you check the tightness/gasket on the oil cooler connector pipe, next to the temp sensor ?

No I didn't I won't be home until wednesday so I'll take a look then. I'll let you know the outcome.

The answer lay in the oil temperature sensor. Now I've nipped it up all is well.
