MMMMMMM Oil

My 99 1150 gs starts perfect but after a mile r so when I give it throttle it splutters and misses perfect one and minute and then goes like that ,changed spark plugs changed you hose and fuel in the tank , does anyone have any idea where I should look next .tanx all
Has anyone tried Castrol R in their GS? Did it smell nice?
Just put 20w50 fully synthetic in mine......why not, as it keeps the viscosity better?Dude, you're goin to get some sh1t for asking that, but don't let it get to you. As for the oil,yes a good 20/50 minneral car oil that is at the correct API if you ask me, I use castrol or rock oil. No need for Motorcycle oil as you have a dry clutch. Don't worry about the flack that will follow, you're meant to read the unwriten rules before posting.
cheers

Holy thread resurrection Batman!Just put 20w50 fully synthetic in mine......why not, as it keeps the viscosity better?

Mine is millers oils 20w50 fully synthetic for bikes and its really quietened the motor down.Castrol do a 20/50 for motorcycles, GP I think its called. Have a look in your manual and youll see that differeent weight oils are reccomended for different ambient temperatures. When its hot like now in England or in a hot country use heavier weight oil like 20/50. If you were using your bike in lapland then go for a lighter weight like 10/40 or so. Having said that you will notice that the reccomendations in the manual have such a big crossover spec that its not so important. Quite a few people, myself included like a heavier oil like 20/50 cos it seems to make the engine a little quiter. I would find one oil of decent reputation and try and stick to it. Best of luck old bean ......![]()
