First of all ill apologise for the stupid question, SORRY
But what's the difference, apart from the colour obviously between the silver and black engines GSA. I ask as I'm currently in the market for one and don't want to be ridiculed on here for buying the "wrong one"

Thanks
Chris

From what I've seen the black appears to be a more durable finish... but then I've only seen about 50 maybe.

Optional?

Hrmm...didn't know that the engine color was optional. I know the Canadian GSA's are black from the transmission forward whereas the US versions are all silver paint like on the driveshaft etc.

It's probably market dependent. It was certainly an owner option in the UK. I specified black engine and transmission on my 2004 GSA at no cost.

I like the Black engine casings as well, but I wouldnt allow that to cloud my judgement on a GSA. I was looking for a black/black one..but a silver/silver one came up, right price, milage and stuff...so I got it..never looked back.

Some people believe that the black ones are the fastest, but thats just bloody non-sense...the silver ones are by far the fastest :aidan

The black is a paint.
The silver is metal.

Paint peels, flakes, gets dissolved.

:nenau

PS I have a silver engine on my lebbenfiddy GSA, but I admit I do prefer the look of the black one.......apart from where it meets the silver swingarm, which out to have been completed in black as well :blast

As far as getting laughed at for getting the wrong one......please, tell me you're not serious?

They're both painted Bill, though all the silver paint may have fallen off yours. :augie

Easily achieved:

That bike looks absolutely mint, colourway works really well.
Well the bloke who came and bought it a few months back thought so too.

Mind you, it did get grubby and quite often:

It's just that black ones scrub-up better. :augie

:D

You sold it? No way! Looks so 'up to date' better than the triple black 1200. I thought my silver with black engine looked nice but that is lovely. Who did the work on it?
