having difficulty finding neutral and keeping the lever there whilst starting with side stand down? is there any adjustment anywhere?
gearbox seems very smooth other than that, not clunky going from gear to gear ?

Not sure what you mean when you say you have trouble keeping the lever in neutral when starting with the sidestand down. Anyway, you can adjust the lever up or down, just do a search in the forum.

Good free advice : Every time you mount a motorbike immediately retract the side-stand.;)

used to be able to leave the bike on its side stand select neutral and start. now it will not stay in neutral without some "boot " assistance?

If it will not stay in neutral, there must be a problem with the gear selector mechanism inside the gearbox eg the selector drum is moving out of the neutral indent position.

It should stay in this position under spring tension normally, therefore I would guess at a weak or broken selector return spring.

Does it move through a series of positive clicks between gears with the lever returning to the neutral position after each is selected? It should.

makes sense a spring broken or weak, as when you apply a little pressure on coming down from 2nd to neutral it doesn't want to stay there unless held with a bit of boot pressure. all others gears seem fine?
