1250 to 1300-Is it worth the upgrade ?

Thanks Arsey for posting the Top-Test...One day you have to teach me how to do it...LOL

Didn't think the 1250RT was lacking in power two up loaded up with luggage for two weeks. :nenau
Could take a car instead , the RT is a bit disconnected from riding . , sorry but they are a bit dull and over comfortable. Hence the car quote

So...the 1250 is still a fantastic bike by any measure, as is the 1200, come to that. The 1300 offers a little more in power/agility stakes over the 1250 but with some disadvantages. Anyone know when the 1300RT is due out? That one may tempt me as the extra bulk will probably benefit more from the extra go, as long as they don't compromise pillion comfort.
So… improve a bike to only slow it down by fitting the same motor in a barge . Don’t get your reason . The extra in the 1300 gs is a great addition, why dilute it with a greenhouse screen and a huge body ,
🤔

The RT is actually more sporty to ride than the RS with the stupid fork and dragging centerstand...Stick still waiting for your V/max test with bags & topcase and if you can remove the DB-inserts as easy as on the works 1250 Akra just removing the CF caps and using the dremel on the screw weld...!? I would take a GS with sports suspension or GS-ADV over a RT any day despite the 17" front wheel...But a RT over a RS or R any day even if the specs suggest otherwise...Not even bad looking after the overhaul for '22 and dash & music as added bonus...Probably the best bike for cold & rainy GB...!

Not denigrating the new GS at all Stick, just pointing out that the RT could also benefit from the same improvements. Many prefer the RT.

Sorry , my emotions sometimes override my ability to type with reason as I’m a bit hot headed at times .

Absolutely

the 1200/1250 RT handles surprisingly well, although I do find it a tad heavy when paddling about in car parks for example

The one problem with it for me is the very cramped seat to peg ratio, otherwise it would be a fantastic tourer

Wonder if the 1300 will get slimmed down like the GS has, could be a good thing :nenau

Morety the RS is actually dangerous if you go fast on backroads or god forbid do a trackday doing a reasonable fast pace...Not that you would know and there is nothing wrong with it you enjoying the RS...BUT please dont tell experienced riders is is not so because you dont push it far enough to get there...My dad used to say be polite and shut up kid when adults talk or grow some hair on your scrotum and make some experences first and then you know what we are talking about...LOL
Happy New Year !
If I was living in England with the shit all year round weather I would ride and RT and be dry and suprise some sportbikes with WASP Eat me raw blarring from the speakers...The RT is definitely the sportiest of the few sport-tourers still available in the truest meaning of their genre...Cant judge the book by its cover ! Great chassis,Telever and Torquey / short gearing equals R-apid T-ransit ! But the GS due to less heft despite the 19" front wheel is still better due to less heft and more forward seating position...! But the RT still beats the GS with a 25 vs 19 liter tank...LOL And bigger TFT screen !

Maybe your New Year resolution could be to start behaving properly and stop being so insulting to people you dont know?

Pointing out a few facts is not insulting at all as I myself never asked for a Thank You from these ignorant cnuts for posting a few numbers taken from the german motopress to enlighten them.Instead I was called names...Like a man much bigger than all of us combined said...Dont throw your pearls to the swine...LOL
Happy New Year...It can only get worse,,,But not much...LOL
Besides it is all BMWs fault making the tank soo small to rob us all of the exitement of something new for 2024....LOL
Oh well small problems compared to what the poor people in Gaza have to endure these days !

Ah ok. I dont own one anymore. I just have another couple of barges to ride. I have never had a dull bike.:nenau
There are some very dull people that ride bikes though.;)

Arsey you question is it worth to upgrade…finally here your answer ; For riders who actually ride it could be worth the upgrade if it is stable at top speed with bags but the smaller tank and in some ways smaller bags puts it in the not worthy to upgrade category…Self inflicted wound.Despite the stronger engine and more agile chassis…Too bad.
If you only ride to Starbucks or go on short trips this should not matter and it might put it into the worthy of a upgrade category…LOL
Shorter legged people should love it as they dont have to ride a lowered bike anymore that sucks in the twisties !
People who ride two up shut let the missus test ride it and from what I read they are not as comfortable as before which might be a easy fix…Less sound might be as easy to fix but more costly and the linked foot brake might be another costly BMW upgrade later done by reprogramming it at the dealership..Not the clear win as could and should have been…!

Have you ever considered a career on the Stage ?

If the Telescopic fork is so stupid and unsporting why does EVERY succesful racing bike - MotoGP - Superbikes - Road Race/TT use a telescopic fork ?

How much more success would Valentino Rossi have had if he had a Telelever front end ? bet he is kicking himself

You're talking out of your backside....again. Learn to ride more than in a straight line, perhaps get some training? Funny how I and many other riders have not had any issues with our RS bikes...and I am a very experienced rider, advanced qualified and riding regularly, including for the blood bike service, so don't patronise me please.

With all due respect You guys are idiots…Yes race bikes use forks but the reason is that race tracks are smooth unlike the roads we ride on so racebikes can use very stiff springs and dont encounter ripples while bottomed out…Telelever is way superior to any fork on not perfect pavement ! And if you cant drag your centerstand on your RS you need lots of training or will never be fast enough…The GS is a way better sports-tourer than either R or RS even if it does not look like it on paper !
