1300RT…..

I did try the wing before I bought a K1600GA. The Wing was ok, but just too sedate for me, it felt ponderous and had little suspension travel as I grounded it over a hump on the test ride! I'm sure it's a cracking tourer, which is what it's designed for, but it just doesn't do it for me as an all round bike.

I sold the GA after two years as it was just too twitchy at 70mph+, which was an issue when doing continental trips, and then bought the RT pictured, which is great for both distance and 100 mile runs out on the weekend.

Good luck with your Wing, it's a lovely bike, and although not for me, I do appreciate it (y)
I suppose it depends what youre looking for. It is a proper tourer, where as the RT is a sports tourer….apparently
To me, the wing is more comfortable, more economical, looks better, it’s better for a pillion and it just fits me better.
It’s the top bike if you’re covering big distances, especially in the DCT form.
Oh, it does help that I have a good relationship with my Honda dealer, where as my local BMW dealer is shockingly bad.
Yes, There are down sides though.
The panniers are small, and it’s eye wateringly expensive.
The cost is the reason I won’t be getting another one when I change the bike. I’ll probably drop down to a much inferior bike such as an RT.😀

Went fishing to my dealer regarding a new 1250RT, see if they can do better on the official advertised BMW UK deals.
You can no longer order one.
You can have only stock, 25 left in UK in LE trim the cheapest around £22000. Very keen to do a deal on stock (he can get one from an other dealer) or new, before the end 1stQ.
So the new 1300RT, RS, R are about turning up in the next several weeks. Wink, Wink...

This has been the case since before December. Our blood bike group bought 3, which were delivered before christmas. We didn't pay £22k though :)

No! The 1100 was the best looking RT by far!
It's amazing how a simple change of top fairing turned it into the ugliest - the 1150.
Thankyou for reminding me of the wailing and gnashing of teeth when the Yankees saw the first pictures of the 1200RT in 2005. They thought that they would have to ride their 1100/1150RTs until the end of their days.
Of course they then went to the dealer to see it "in person". Oh, it's not so bad after all :) .
It did end happily ever after for most of them.

I had a test ride on a 2003 1200GS and put a deposit on a new 1200RT without ever having seen it.

Go on...You can whisper it to me :D
I've seen the invoice for one of our new BB 1250RTs. Base trim but even so, lets just say dealer margins are much higher than I previously thought!

Must admit, the more I become accustomed to my 2021 1250 "Owl Eyes" RT the more I prefer the looks over the new one. It at least is distinctive (here some may wish to insert "bulbous") but in a good way. That big headlamp is a magnet for stone chips so fitted a slipscreen protector on mine. Much cheaper than a new headlamp.

I don't think dealer margins are much higher. The deal with the 1250s BB groups were offered, was from BMW authority bikes, the dealer then added their discount on the discount provided by BMW. Groups can also claim the VAT back. We didn't buy the base model, we did the last time and suffered on trade in for the new bikes, not many want base models. BMW stopped production and needed to move all stock on before 2025. For a dealer it will depend on what BMW have sold the bike to them for. But there are certainly deals to be done.

True. They do have discounts for their "Authority bikes". The biggest issue I have with the base spec is the suspension. It's poor, bouncy and under damped, and that's coming from a 12 stone rider. It would be worth, for maximising rider safety, BB groups to buy them with ESA fitted at least. The difference is night and day. The main issue with the standard set up is that it can never be set to cover the wide range of rider weights. We have some guys at 10stn, others at 18stn. We can't faff about trying to tune the suspension for each change of shift and I do believe that compromises rider safety, a point I'll be bringing up at our next meeting.

That is why we only buy LE spec bikes now. I never did get an answer from your fleet manager on his advice not to fit rear bars :) I did speak to BMW authority though and they had a different view.

Unfortunately no longer available or possible to order from Ger. Some good deals on the LE. One dealer is advertising a £1500 contribution + £500 BMW contribution. So that is almost 10% off before any haggle. Someone will have a good deal.

We can only offer what we've observed really. I wonder what crash tests your "BMW authority" has done? LE spec would be spot-on.

Lol, my BMW authority as you call it, is BMW authority bikes, the people in the UK who supply all authority bikes to the emergency services both in the UK and Europe, part of BMW Group. I would hope they know what they are talking about. You keep posting things about blood bikes, are you the fleet manager for Freewheelers EVS or on the committee? Please pm me, I would love to have a contact for your testing and I can then also share with NABB and other groups who are running BMW fleets or any approved blood bikes that have bars.

If your group has data that shows a safety issue with bars, then we need to share with the NABB safety forum and issue guidelines to other groups, so they can do risk assessments on the use of.

I am a rider but have spoken in detail to the fleet manager about this position and am not looking to justify my opinion, merely offer our observations. Take them at face value or ignore, no skin off my back. Your area lead and fleet manager will make their own decisions based upon advice from bmw. We have experienced frame cracks so no longer fit them, end of story really.

I have DM you, keep your hair on, I just want to know if there is an issue with bars or not :)

I like it 👌
Me too. Interestingly running the configurator the triple black option has a number of changes from std - "sports" screen, tubular bars and a few other bits that really change the look of the bike. Not sure I fancy the Triple Black but I wish the Black Storm Metallic option was available separately without all the other odds'n ends.
