Hi Folks

Just thought I'd share some pictures with you, of my brothers Yamaha IT250. He always wanted one when they first came out in 1983 but couldn't afford one. But in 1992 when he was working on the rigs, and had a lot of disposable cash, he found one for sale and set about restoring it, with all new plastics, powder coated frame, re-spoked wheels with stainless spokes.....that sort of thing, just chucked a load of money at it really. He then stored it until now and has just got it back out. Hope you guys like the pics. I think these modern classics are great, they are the bikes you always wanted as a 17 year old but could never afford. He's now thinking of selling it, because he will never use it after getting it to this standard.

That's gorgeous :drool

I too can remember wanting one at the time but as far as I was concerned they were made of pure unobtainium.

Great bikes I had a 175 version and several Suzuki PE's before I moved on to Maico's and KTM's,I've been watching the classifieds and evil bay recently with rose tinted spectacles of the past firmly in place,I could be interested in this,PM me with a ballpark figure if it becomes available.Cheers, Steve.

i had a 175, and then in a moment of madness, a 465 before coming to my senses and buying an XR250 :)

Utterly, utterly beautiful. :drool

I had several trailies back in time and the only enduro I had was an XR200.

I'd have that tomorrow (here come the excuses), but I've just allocated a load of £££'s on my next toy.

I would say it'd be very difficult to put a price on it. I check out the U.S. ebay site occasionally and the likes of that would fetch big money (the yanks love their off roading). But if he is seriously wanting to sell it on, my advise would be to advertise it in the classic MotoX/enduro mags to get the best return.

What a beauty!!

I would love one of these for the green lanes here in Normandy!

If he fancies another project I have a proper 1988 CR500 for exchange! :D:augie

Totally horny and lust worthy machine. :drool

As you say.....just what we always wanted to own but never did.

Superb example. :thumb2

Interesting to see how the enduro IT 'lagged behind' the motocross YZ by a few model years...my 1982 YZ250J was watercooled whereas the later IT there is still aircooled.

Oh yes baby......:drool
I had one when I was an apprentice, and another lad there had one too.
They were/are great bikes.:thumb2

Timpo.

Nice Andy...................fecking nice:clap:clap

I had a IT250H with the triangulated alloy swingarm (before the Monocross) and it was a fecking nutter thing

I emailed my brother Rich, a link to this thread and all the kind comments have really made him very happy, thanks guys:thumb

He only did a few kms (I think he mentioned 17 kms) after it's initial rebuild due to a major 12 hour back operation after which he was never been fit enough to swing his leg over it.

He's just spent the best part of three months of hard graft stripping everything down again, polishing, and painting and replacing parts that had gone a bit shabby after being stored for so long.......so he's really chuffed that all his hard work has got so many positive comments

His health has recovered a bit now and he hopes to be fit enough to be able to buy and ride a 1200 Adventure next year (albeit with low seat option !!)

|Thanks again Guys :thumb2

Thanks for making me smile as you rarely see a bike of that age, and type, in such pristine condition it would almost be a shame to get it dirty!

I always wanted the IT465 but maybe a bit too old to climb onto that now, even the CR is getting a bit too much!

Enjoy the 1200 aventure when you are back up to speed.
