I doubt very much that the oil has degraded in 6k but bikes are seen as a leasure market and people will pay for their toys far more readily than they will necessities like cars.

. It works really hard

Might as well have been.£100 inc vat labour for a first service... was it a challenger tank??

Isn't it interesting that with all those different components and their odd penny unit costs, that the total comes in at a rather conveniently rounded £170 exactly! They charge for everything.
... as it's only a nut tightening exercise.
Stop whining you lot!
If you can't budget for the service don't buy the bike.
I'm having mine done this Friday and been quoted £289 so count yourselves lucky.
You are right about handing it back the same as you can see. Being the suspicious sort I am, and being in the trade for years, anything that needs replacing is marked with a scratch or UV pen, I just like to know it gets done. I have to say, I have challenged a car dealer once, the new air filter wasn't put in but it was a genuine mistake, they said.If they called servicing... "Farkles" and we got a gold star pinned to our chest upon leaving, we would be fine about the cost.
As it is, we hand over our bike, they give it back EXACTLY THE SAME.... that the eye can see anyways, and charge us the cost of 10 days of fuel and fun, our only reward is a free coffee?
quoted £175 sounds a lot for an oil and filter
Then complain to the fecking dealership. It really is fecking simple, you chimp.
