2006 GS help needed with the rear brake switch wiring please.

Give the abs modulator motor a whack with a rubber hammer .. it’ll free off the motor magnets which are stuck in their holders ..
the motor is the black unit about the size of an aerosole cap attached to the modulator body,
It might only be temporary fix, or it could last for a year, there’s no telling .

Well spotted, thanks I knew something wasn’t right as I typed it, been hospital all day and was knackered, I’ve only just woken up after a short ‘nap’

It might not permanently fix his problem, but it may give an idea where the problem is ..

I ay be wrong here but I thought the GS/GSA didn't have brake light switches. All worked by voodoo somehow.
Pressure from the abs system activated the brake lights. .
From what I recall only models without abs had a switch.

In that case my 2007 with no remaining abs and an aftermarket rear light so I’m not sure

that is now going to be your best way forward

look on it as an investment , you don't need the new xpensive one, the yellow Bluetooth version will suffice

I think you need to ride above 3mph for it to self check and go out.

Second looking closely at RealOEM for your bike it is slightly misleading as where the brake light switches are mentioned it also states "X630A=No" - meaning (I think) that when the bike is equipped with the later IABS2 system there are no brake light switches, this certainly applies to the later bikes. The ABS unit signals to the ZFE to trigger the brake light when there is pressure in either the front or rear brake circuit.
The fact that you have an brake fault light showing indicates a problem with the ABS unit itself - needs a diagnostic unit like a GS911 or Motorscan to see if any fault codes are being produced by the ABS.

we had a ZFE play up a month or so back on this forum, seen it on 2 x k1300s affecting the brake lights in last 6 months (which admittedly do things really stupid)...

its beginning to look like the Germans have their usual expensive time related fun trying to take old stuff off the roads...
