Hi chaps,

This is going to be like asking the church choir if the believe in God I know but, I'm considering buying a new (2008) GS Adventure, I've had a 1150GSA in the past and loved that but I will need to trade in my K1200GT for it. The GT is 9 months old and has 25,000 miles on the clock because I use it for commuting at it's a great distance bike.

My questions are;

Will I find the GSA as good a commuter as my GT?

I do ride on tracks now and then so would I find the option of the "Enduro" pack to be of use? Basically this consists of a lower first gear and a set of knobblies.

Has anyone ridden the new 2008 GSA and if so, what did you think?

Thanks for any feedback.

Cheers

Mark

I find knobblies horrible on the road but then there are some on this site that love em.:mmmm
As far as commuting goes I do it every day through city rush hour on my 06 one and I'm used to the filtering now. The weight sure shows up when the fuel tanks full through the real slow tight gaps though. I avoid putting the panniers on for my commute unless I have to as they're a smidge wider than the bars (and the width is lower too of course).

you will not find too many people on here that have actually riden the new 2008 R1200GSA. However, i know of two people, they both liked it, and have ordered one each.. So they cant be all that bad.
I however have one on order, but i dont know if i could sell my R1150GSA so, may sell my deposit...

The 2008 Adventurer is a very good bike to ride but you shouldn't discount the 2008 GS. I personally have found it to be a much nicer bike. Before you put an order in for the adv, try and test ride them both when they are released as then you can tell for yourself which is better and I guarantee you'll be wanting one of them, and my guess is it'll be the R1200GS

2008gs

If the bottom gear is as high as the 1150 I would definatly go for the lower bottom gear if used for commuting willextend clutch life. I fited lower gearing to my 1150 and it is brilliant in traffic and also for going off road. Knobblies are ok on the road (not like the old ones from the sixties) but will wear out quicker, rears at least.
