2013 Model

Steering damper
New updated switchgear
Revised clutch pushrod and probably many more clutch mods, yet undisclosed

After having mine a season, IMHO it doesn't need a steering damper. Mine doesn't need any gearchange or clutch fixes, either, it shifts nicely.

I will be trying to get the switchgear update at some point before the warranty expires, though.

With all the changes on the 2014 model will the 2013 be the one nobody wants in a few years time?
Would anyone want a bike that's bought by the sort of people who ask where the best place to stick an alarm LED is?

The biggest single factor in working out the depreciation of a 1200 GS has nothing to do with any of the alleged problems but everything to do with the sort of fuckwits who seem to be buying most of them :blast

You lot REALLY don't do yourselves any favours on the whole, do you :blast

Ok, just for you, I'll attach some antlers to my helmet for the Festive Season. Will that help....?

You'll either have to just imagine them for the moment or do the Photoshopping yersel', Wullie. :rob

The pushrods mod was done on my bike before it went back.:thumb Gearchange assist is a chargeable option.

No, they've just marketed them differently.

Bollocks.:rob

Okay. But if you look at the spec sheet on BMW's website you will only see 3 riding modes mentioned and for the TE EX GSA there are 5 riding modes mentioned.

:augie

So the 2013 model is the real deal for us serious, hard-core, riders who are going to make full use of the Enduro Pro mode.... :augie

I was told that this week too, the 2014 GS has been 'dumbed down' in terms of riding modes

Rain and Road mode come on the standard bike. The TE adds Dynamic, Enduro and Enduro Pro modes.:beerjug:

Thank God I was in time to get hold of the hairy chested 'too fast to race' 2013 model, at least this way I have the option to keep it, and yet I also still retain the other option to flog it and buy a 2014 model, or there again perhaps I'll wait a couple of years and get a the 2015 model apparently it's going to be available with power steering and air bag options! :aidan

People always want the new models, if you worry about that stuff then you would never buy anything, there would be no progress and we'd all be riding around on lardy slow overweight 1150s :D

I was thinking will it be known as a lemon in years to come and some may see it as the one to avoid in the same way some talk about the early 1200s

If anybody is doing their homework before buying they will come across this web site. Suppose their friends advise them to check the gearbox they will find a section with 1072 posts on it. Not easy to ignore so many comments. Like a suspected paedophile the press and public opinion will form a judgement way before a court of law. The innocent party can never really clear their name. I have turned down low mileage second hand LCs, only based on this forum, assuming they have these reported problems.
The F800ST was reported to be much better than the Honda VFR800 but the web forum was full of adverse reports, many on the gearbox and ABS, enough I suppose to put off many owners and the bike has not been the success it should have been. New or second hand.
I'm please to see the clunks and clanks section is now almost buried on sheet 2.
