2016 is my year!

I will be 50 next year and looking to have a 50th year, not just a 50th birthday!
I have discussed with my employer the possibility of having extended leave to which they have loosely agreed a further 4 weeks next year which could give me a 4 week trip plus my annual entitlement... Happy Days
I have always had an interest in the east of Europe bordering Russia along with a hankering to go north to Nordcapp. I dont expect that I could do both in one trip so probibly have two, or maybe three ;-)
It would be fair to say I am not a seasoned traveller, but I have had some experience having cycle toured solo from Vancuver Island to Calgary over the Rockies which took 3 months less a month at Revelstoke area working as a short order cook. The only other Tour I have done is the NC500 + 1000mls around scotland for 3 days on my own. It would also be fair to say that I am not one to do much planning! I just go and deal with what comes. I may however need to?

So in 2016 I intend to do some tours and see a bit of the world, and perhaps hook up with some riders along the way. If you are interested in doing something similar then holler...

Hi Zedos,
Sounds very good to me, in many ways 2016 is also my year. I'm off to visit friends in South Africa next week and have hired a bike for when down there, intending to ride a few mountain passes. Mid May I'm meeting up with friends in Germany for a group ride. Mid July I'm going for a solo ride to the Austrian Alps for 2 weeks. (maybe do something together here?) I often tour by myself and find travelling this way can bring rich rewards in meeting local folk. However, as I ride a lot, there's always room for a joint trip maybe for part way to see if our riding styles are compatible. Perhaps when you are passing by Wales, when heading for Europe, we can meet up too. However things work out for you, good luck with your 2016 plans anyway.

All the gear and no idea...lol
Ferry booked 18th June (no return) heading to alps with 3 friends then they return to UK and I continue south as far as the whim takes me. Then hook a left to travel north on the eastern side of Europe.... well thats the plan anyway. Actually there is no plan, that way there is nothing that can go wrong ;-)
Maybe I will hook up with some fellow riders en-route...?
