2017.10 Map Update - not finding SD card ?

Jacal is this on pc or mac. as above, Does the mac/pc see the Nav 5, does express see the Nav 5, does the mac/pc see the card, can you write to the card from the mac/pc while it is onboard the Nav 5, can you write to the card using a card reader. has the map update downloaded to the mac/pc ok, and is it working as it should (you can use basecamp). has this update been put on the unit before via a different card, and as above are you sure the usb cable is correct and working, and how big is the card.

There is a bit of a problem with Garmin express and SD cards at the moment AS you recall i had similar trouble that i overcame by buggering about a bit and using map install as a work a round which is not ideal

I am still waiting for Garmin to get back to me but i think the issue is with the GE up date that they did

What a load of Garmin tripe !!! I have the same problem GE not recognising the SD card....Wouldn't mind if this was the only glitch in their software BUT we have to learn Basecrap and now have to work round a sort of fix for their poor programs.....Spread the word on all social media and see if Garmin like that !!!!

FECKIN GARMIN SHITE.

Ive actually contacted Garmin UK and they needed several files off the Mac and Nav 5. Did that last Monday but no answer yet.

I had the same problem with a Mac. I just tried renaming the card using Finder as suggested here and only then started Garmin Express and it worked. Cheers
As for Basecamp...

As for Basecamp... It works well

Fixed for you

If it works for others then great BUT with my Mac book Pro and 16 GB card it doesn't.

Why should I try another card, the one that has been in it for the last 2 years and as worked faultlessly with updates, the computer recognises it, I can write to it, I can play music on it BUT GE doesn't know it exists, GE doesn't say there's enough room on it, it says it can't find one, so it's pointless taking files off to try to make room, even tho I have :blast

After trying everything that has been suggested even down to making sure I used the Garmin usb cable, I have updated to the computer with Mapinstall, which isn't the point.

GARMIN EXPESS software is faulty, no if's or buts.

Th whole idea of GE is that you just have to download it, install it and press couple of buttons to let it do it all for you.....It doesn't !!

I recall that people have said garmin are having issues with express, but alas this does not explain why not everyone is having this problem, there are folks on here using macs/pcs that do not have the issue, i am trying to get my head around this, so as i may help, this was my reason for the questions.

I doubt very much that your sd card is at fault, this has been tested and proven with people who have experienced similar issues, their cards have worked perfectly.

UPDATE

I rang Garmin today to see what is going on with my NAV 5 update problem. Apparently they can't sort it out in the UK so they have referred it back the the good old USA. Not looking good.
Personally, i think its a GE software problem when used with a Mac.

Looks like they sorted it!! Have just updated Garmin express to newest version 4.1.280 and it now sees the SD card and has just loaded the map updates, using a iMac

Are you going through a windows computer or a mac ?

As I said,iMac ,Maps loaded are Europe 2017.2.Wouldnt see SD card before update

Garmin Express v4.1.27.0 was released on the 31st August 2016. and Garmin Express v4.1.28.0 was released 26th September 2016 so nearly a month to fix it, if indeed it is fixed.

Seems to be all fixed now as mine is working fully and seeing the SD card which it was not doing 2 weeks ago
