2026 CB1000GT

Having used throw overs for thousands of miles; boxes on my Gs 1100 which are also odd shaped on the exhaust side; and the funny shape paniers on the SX for two wks at a time camping at the TT and all around Europe; can't say we've ever had a problem with regards to what we've not been able to pack.
As my mate used to say to his girlfriend. If your knickers won’t fit in a matchbox, you’re not talking any😉

I think a lot depends on how you use the bike

If I rode solo then there’s a good chance I’d have a Tiger Sport 800, I like them a lot and agree, anything over 100hp is absolutely plenty

The only down side is the physical space available if you want to tour with a pillion, that’s where the liter + bikes come in as they tend to be a bit bigger physically
I agree re pillion comfort but the lovely Mrs Derek doesn't tour with me any more, hence the downsize. We had a GS when we toured together, but that was some years ago now. If we want to go together now, we take the car and the dog.

It is leg room I need, the Tige 800 dissapoints by being based on a chassis for a tiny little naked, and I suspect the GT will be the same, the price is right, the spec is almost right (would of preferred conventional suspension taht is easy to modify / replace) the pwoer is plentiful, but I am sure it will not be comfy for people over 6 foot & over 50, I toured on an FZR400RR in my 20's, but now find much more than 30 minutes of my TZR250 a chore.

Anyway, I will wait to see if the oil consumption issue has been solved, and some folk have put some big miles on them, so maybe around 2029 I will look for a 1 year old fully loaded minter and save £3k compared to a new one - assuming my legs don't cramp on a 30 minute test ride.

Very excited now, at 12:01 my bike will be registered and ive a 170 mile route ride planned for tomorrow A and B roads with a bit of Motorway on the way back, so hopefully will get a decent idea if its worth a shit or not
the good thing about getting the bike 2 weeks before it was registered is that I could strip it down to fit everything without rushing to get it all back together, silly thing is I did not realise until yesterday, as long as you have a registration number you could insure it registered or not !! sa la vi its insured now and ill be off at 6am for a proper ride, will hopefully let you all know what my thoughts are tomorrow night

Ok the 170 mile ride was cut short of no fault of the bike or my own so only got to do around 100 miles
The bike is very much like my 26 plate S1000XR in the way it rides albeit it seems to rev a little lower (maybe) 70mph 4500 RPM so not too high but it feels more as its a inline 4, it feels a lot more urgent than the twin of the Africa twin that went in for it, the engine overall is a peach with plenty of go, as much as id ever need, but also seems to sit at 80-90 very easily and it does not feel stressed, I went through a village at 26mph in 6th then just twisted it on at the national sign to 80 with no hesitation, not sure where the lack of low end or mid range grunt is there !! the suspension is simply superb and seems a whole lot better than the similar electronic suspension on the AT, the throttle response is a buss ride away from the jerkyness on the AT, even in sports mode the response is very smooth and progressive in all situations, in rain mode (which is what id use with the Mrs on the back) it almost feels automatic using the quick shifter, very smooth and a bit less urgent, the quickshifter is not as smooth as on the XR but still much better than the AT, handling is simply superb and it really does corner well, bike or Road6s I dont know, all I do know is its probably one of the best handlers ive had did manage to scrape a peg on one side very slightly and have about an inch of chicken strip on both sides left, adjust the suspension to rider and luggage and I doubt ill ever drag one again as you can feel the bike rise, the dash may not be the most comprehensive but it showed what I needed and the stereo integration was faultless, the lack of ambient temperature readout is annoying as ive got it on the ADV350 and its virtually the same dash which does have it, but a quick flick up to the weather app on the dash and it reads the weather and temp out to you so no biggie, mirrors really good no vibes at any of the speeds I did today and a decent view im not looking at my elbows, Ive got the touring screen fitted and ive just ordered the bolt on Puig lip as I feel it could be a better, and im only 5 foot 9 although all the riding I did today was with the schuberth C5 flipped up with the music on so its not really bad!!
all in all the bike felt really good, very planted at decent speeds, and very compliant at low speed in traffic, id have no issues taking this and doing the same France and Spain trip we did a couple of months ago on the AT tomorrow to be honest, fit and finish seems to be good but only time will tell with that, Panniers are a nice fit and not too obtrusive, handy they come with Honda inner bags that fit nicely, top box is huge but thats what what I need for work so im happy with that all are very easy to open close remove and refit
so thats that if I fit anything else ill update and if anything goes tits up ditto, cant wait to go on a decent ride with the boys now !!

Regarding the screen you could try the standard one, that's what I've been using recently in the hot weather and I found it worked really well. But I will refit the touring screen as the weather changes.

Sat on one today and the ergonomics are spot on. It had the comfort seat and the tall shield. Salesman did say don't bother with the usual seat, get the comfort one.

He would do he's thinking ££££. It is well worth looking at the various packages they are well priced and a lower price than the individual items.

Those Gold wheels really have lifted its profile ABoy; nice one; my mate now has his 1000 F in the man cave. :beerjug:

Don't forget a can of oil, just in case.
My neighbour collected his CB1000GT yesterday and sent me a picture of it being loaded onto a trailer after he had ridden the ten miles home. The dealer had either not fitted the oil filler cap or not tightened it up. It pissed all the oil over his jeans and the back end of the bike. He was lucky he didn't drop it. He is waiting to hear what happens next. He's not a happy bunny.

Probably that new pdi centre Honda have opened :) BMW tried centralising pdi of all bikes. My bike in 2019, was pid'd centrally, then CW had to do it again, found quite a few things that hadn't been done correctly

Cheers guys I love the gold wheels and the red panels painted, I had a Schuberth C5 painted to match, that came back today so Ill put it back together tomorrow and pop a few matching black striped on it see how it looks if not plain matching red will be fine,
I have the std seat but have not tried it so cant comment, I did pop the std screen on the bike for the ride to work and back today and as soon as I got back changed it back over as it was not for me!!

the top box to be honest looks a lot bigger in the pictured its funny as it looks the wrong shape as well but its the std top box that goes on the XT1100 and the ADV350 however ive got a bigger one on my ADV350 lol

Ok after a few rides sadly its up for sale
LOL not really !! the only thing ive got to complain about is that the turning circle is shite, you'd be lucky to do a 3 point turn on a motorway, ok its not that bad but the Africa Twin is a lot tighter, apart from that im amiss to find anything else im not too keen on,
this and the little ADV350 seem a decent combination to be honest for my needs,

It’ll be gone by Christmas 😜

I saw one for the first time yesterday in my local dealer and have to say it looks much better in the flesh.
Hopefully H have resolved the oil burning issues.
