Hi everybody

First of all I started this thread as the conversion I am considering is the very specific Wunderlich one, although I already read quite a lot about this both here and at AdvRider.

I've been thinking about this mod for quite a while now, and I was inclined to the "Wunderlich 21" wheel conversion", but still have some doubts:
(my bike is a late '08 GSA with ASC, ABS and ESA)

1 - will the 21" front wheel affect the performance/effectiveness of the ASC?

2 - will it affect the speedo and mileage readings?

3 - the front of the bike will supposedly rise, is it noticeable, does this make any difference in the riding?

4 - would it be possible to use 21" wheel from HP2 or a combination of the HP2 rim with the GSA wheel as the HP2 wheel only attaches to one brake disc?

(the full kit is on this link)

If anyone here has done it, all info pics and feedback would be greatly appreciated!

THX! ;)

Timolgra has just done this mod Pedro and seems quite happy with it.

Thread here and first impressions of what it's like to ride here.

Hope this helps. :)

Already read those, I can imagine some of the differences, but the specific questions to GSA1200 '08 with ASC and ABS and the specific Wunderlich solution remain...

I read somewhere that 1150 and 1200 have the speedo/mileage readings differently (front/back wheel not sure)

I forgot to say that on Wunderlich's website that there is also an "Electronic ABS adaptation" not sure why it's needed though... :nenau

THX anyway ;)

1200 speedos drive from the gearbox, so readings should be unaffected. However, the ABS/ASC may get a bit funny as it will be expecting readings based on a 19" front. The 21" front will turn slower in comparison, meaning that it may believe the front is locking up/rear is spinning.

Makes perfect sense.

I wonder if it comes with an ABS ring that's a wider diameter...
... also perhaps that's one of the reasons for the "electronic ABS adapter" for '07 and later models.

THX! ...More help needed though :augie hehe

The 1150 speedo is now correct with a 21" front wheel.

I would presume that the difference in wheel size has merely taken up the "slack" in the system where the speedo overreads slightly?

The joys of a mechanical drive - none of this electrickery thankyouverymuch

Yes the 1150 reads around 10% fast so the downside is my bike is now slower:blast

With a 1200 couldn't you just turn off the ABS when you start the bike? :nenau

:mmmm Of course I can, as well as the ASC, but if everytime I start the bike I have to do that I would go crazy...

I am begining to think that Wunderlich has not sold a single one of these kits to a member of UKGSers?
