My 2011 TC is now out of warranty and due a 24K mile service. I'm thinking of doing most of the work myself - I am reasonably competent at basic spannering and have done similar work on previous bikes. A couple of queries though - Are the valve clearances straightforward to adjust? Or is this a bucket & shim job? Likewise throttle body synching - do I need any special equipment to do this?

And now for my shooping list - I already have (on the list):

Engine oil
Gearbox oil
FD oil
Spark plugs x4
Sealing washer for sump plug (same for gearbox and FD?)
Air filter
Oil filter
Alternator belt

Anything else needed?

I also have some issues with the rear brake caliper - at the very least I think it needs stripping and rebuilding (seal kit?) but may need replacing. It definitely needs a new rear disc + set of pads.

Alternatively, any recommendations for a non-franchised workshop in my neck of the woods (Sunny Northants)?

Not too bothered about the service indicator, TBH - it has been showing for the past few months on start-up (dealer had the battery disconnected while replacing the clutch and didn't reset the calendar) and now displays "service" at the bottom of the LCD all the time. I simply ignore it.

Thanks for the pointer to the valve clearance procedure though :-)

I am in the same boat, it is something i checked before the warranty renewal is due.

It is wortwhile on the first inspection to note down all the semi-sphere sizes.

Then you will know the next valve clearance time by just taking the clearances, if you can swap them, or just bolt the rockers back on and order up the semi-sphere(s) required, then fit afterwards at your leisure.

my rear caliper was binding I cleaned the pad slots a 2 months later it's binding again. IME once they start to bind the only one term fix is a proper strip down. Do it soon enough and new seals might not be needed.
