I am having problems up/down loading the maps from my map source to my GPS unit(2610) when I have selected the maps I want to load to my Garmin unit, I click onto the GPs icon at the top left of the mapsource screen, a little white box opens saying serial port, the last time I loaded maps to my Garmin unit this white box said USB port as well as serial port, I have tried and tried again to down load the maps but it will not work. any help would be very appreciated.

You can try downloading the latest USB drivers here and reinstalling those.

Do you have any USB port monitoring software running? Like modem / printer / scanner monitors... Those can "occupy" your USB port so MapSource can't see it any more. Try disabling these monitors.

Good luck,
Michel

Thanks for the help, but I still can't down load maps after trying your suggestion, I keep getting the same box opening on the mapsource screen.

PLEASE ENSURE THE FOLLOWING

The GPS is connected to serial port,

The GPS is turned on,

The GPS interface set to the Garmin host????

Which version of MapSource are you using?
If it's not the latest (6.9.1), you could try upgrading that too.

Do you have a USB Compact Flash card reader? If so, you can take the card out of the unit and put it in the reader. Then up/download maps. Works too and usually faster than with the card in the unit.

Can you use other USB devices when connected to the same port?

Have you tried another USB port on the pc?
