Great to hear it's still running like new - its often forgotten that boxer engines getting better with age. A well run and maintained bike with miles ranging in the tens of thousands will be smoother and quicker than a low miler which has been sat in the garage. Plus of course everything that could go wrong, would have by now!
Kinda hard to say what your bike will need service wide as BMW dont have rigid service schedules; you will need to tell the dealer (or indie) what the age of your bike, the mileage and what its spec is (particularly ABS or no). The dealer will then put all of that into their new computer which will then tell them exactly what needs to be done for that bike at that particular point in time.
As a very rough guide, the 54,000 mile service consists of the 6,000 mile interval items (oil, valves and throttle bodies) plus whatever else is needed, which could be air filter, brake fluids and so on. Sorry I cant be precise, but even somebody who has had the same service done recently may not have had the exact same service that your bike is due. If you see what I mean
You could save yourself some (quite a lot) money if you're happy to do things like brake pads and oil yourself. Be sure to use BMW parts if you're bike is under a warranty though.
If you can, you might try and find a local independent mechanic who specialises in BMW, not sure where you are but defintely worth asking around.
