Just 'pulled the trigger' as the Yanks say, on a new GSA :hogroast

Don't really want to trek the 200 miles to the supplying dealer for the first 600 mile service though

Just wondered what others have paid for this service when carried out at a non-supplying dealer??

The actual question though is how much is a dealer who didn't supply the bike gonna charge!
Has anyone had their bike serviced at 600 miles at a dealer different to the one you bought the bike from as if so the cost?

Big Nick - I had the same issue.
GSA bought from one dealer who initially wanted £180 for the 600 mile check and they supplied the bike!! Not good service in my view. The explanation for that was that the workshops and showroom are two different business set up's and dont appear to work in partnership as other dealers do with sales and servicing.
Some dealers will charge oils only which is about £60 eg service is done labour free. My local dealer wanted £180 as well as they did not supply the bike (would have been labour free if they supplied) but agreed to discount the labour to a total cost of £140 after the supply dealer reduced it to £120.
So not much difference in the end with fuel costs etc other than the time involved on the day.
I'm not sure what other manufactures charge for this but I personally feel that parting with that sort of money a short time after leaving the showroom is a bit much when very little is carried out on the initial service. My advice is negotiate to get the best price you can and get the name of the person you speak to. They want your business and will want you to come back for the next service. :thumb Good luck.

First service now means torquing down the heads from cold, had the same issue ,£220 for the first service but nice to know its done properly!! Enjoy yer bike Nick:thumb2

:eek::eek:

Thats steep. my 6000 mile service only cost me £167, which includes valve clearences etc..:thumb2

NOG was the same for the 6k (£166 inc some extras).

But IIRC I was told there is more to do at the 600 service (or at least more time consuming work).

To my shame I've only just completed the running in mileage on my new bike :hide

I was quoted £211 at Rainbow who I was gonna try as I've not used them before and they are rated by many however AJ's came in at £184 so I went there instead.
The bike felt good on the way home so I clicked into 'Sport' and had a good dice with a CBR600RR on the Hemsley TT :JB

Not sure if AJ's will be quite so competitive when they open the new showroom in September though :augie

600 mile service

Just had three quotes for a 600 mile service £204 chester £189 at williams and £155 at ssb southport

Mine is booked in for next week, with my original supplying dealer. A tad over £100. I showed my surprise that I would have to pay at all, and got a similar answer to Dogman (workshop v sales floor ...). :thumb

£204 at Chester...i bought my gs/a there last may and paid £105 for my 600 mile service there and i was gutted at that price(was the fastest 600 mile they'd seen up to then...4 day's...was a bit excited and had a rally coming up!)

Hi Nick, Had mine done last week at Motorrad Cardiff which is an Indi and it cost me £156 riders in Cardiff wanted nearer £200 which is taking the piss IMO.The real pisser though is yet to come.I have worked out that i will require the 6000 service around Oct which again will cost around £160 but then 2 months later the service light on the dash will come on telling me I require the yearly service! This MUST be done ,for the warranty and to reset the panel this cost is approx £85 What a con!:(

My Bro had his 600 mile service done at an independent it was £110.00 :)

Have you asked or are you presuming this will happen?

The dealer should reset your dash to say the service has been done at 6k. The yearly is only there for people who don't do the required mileage i.e 6k on an annual basis!

Jeez I had no idea the 600 mile service is so bloody expensive :mad:
Welcome back to the world of BMW I guess :augie
Mine's going in on saturday at Rainbow, anyone want to buy a kidney?
