6000mile service

Actually no, it lets off the throttle. If however you are approaching a vehicle at high enough speed and needs to slow faster then it will apply the brakes. But not enough to cause any noticeable wear. You'd have to be coming up on cars very fast dozens of times a day to cause premature wear
So it does apply the brakes

Thank you

Well you don't make them so thank you for your opinion but as you have agreed to...they do apply the brakes

And seeing as its only bikes with radar

GUESS WHAT

Jog on

WHat I have noticed is you haven't come up with anything though princess.....

It wouldn.t use the brakes any more than normal riding without ACC

So at least 90 percent of the 1300s out there have the ACC and only a very few are experiencing premature rear pad wear. Are your rear pads wearing prematuely?

You just made up that number.....The UK roads are completely different to Canadas...you don't have half the traffic we do (yes I know because I lived in Alberta)......not even remotely the same traffic and terrain.

Seeing as you haven't come up with anything I'll stick with what someone else has bothered with...least they thought about it where as you just flapped your gums without providing a single piece of evidence to your '90%'

mines had new pads at 3500 miles, guys who have had pads last c20k miles on a GS are seeing significantly heavier wear on this bike so that implies it isn't down to their riding style but either different wearing pads/something extra the bike is doing on the rear brakes. It seems a bit more than a very few from posts on here. Hey ho it doesn't spoil a great bike as far as I am concerned (y)

There's definitely something a miss with the premature rear pad wear, 5 to 6000 miles and replacements needed is piss poor !
This is my 4th GS and the first to need rear pads or any pads for that matter.

This has been an issue on a limited number of GSs going back several years. The popular suggestion is that it's related to bad pads, or a bad batch of pads from whatever the manufacturer of the pads is. Many have installed a different non OEM pad with success. Some have had new disk and pads under warranty which solved the problem. I don't know why it still comes up after so many years other than the calipers have been pretty much the same all these years. If a 1250 pad looks identical then they can be used if 1300 oem are not available. I would suggest a non oem pad. Or keep the pressure on the dealer and BMW for new disk, caliper etc.

Same thing they went through on the early r1200gsa lc models with rear pads wearing out in hundreds of miles not thousands , it was an issue with the traction control applying the rear brake to an excessive degree.

Eventually sorted with remap two or three or four , mine had 3 sets of rear pads in under 2000 miles (under warranty) .
