I know I'm still only running it in and the OBC is usually crap, but I'm liking what I see very much. However, I'll wait a few weeks before I get my £1.50 calculator out and see what it's really doing!:( Doh!

Just done 1,700 miles round Germany and France with pals on 1150's and 1200's. Consistently put 6 to 8 Euro's in less a day than the 1200's and 8 to 12 Euro's less in than the 1150's :thumb

That's each day, riding together :)

I have been using a F650GS loan bike for the last 2 days and the OBC is showing an average of 73mpg, same use on my R1200GSA the OBC says 48mpg. It is very frugal that 650GS.

If you are pootling about at low revs, gentle accelleration, etc, then 68mpg is totally possible. Max I have seen is 72mpg on an early morning nature spotting run through the country (that was a VERY gentle run), but more typically 55-57mpg with normal riding and 52 if thrashing the pants off of it. OBC also seems to be pretty accurate (on mine anyway) and has never been more than 2mpg out when I have checked it. The F8GS is pretty damn good on fuel considering it's quite a peppy little motor.

yep the F800 is very good........... but the F650 is better....

a trip to south of france last year.....

Miles / Gallons
About 75 MPG (1880 / 24.62) Average speed 60-65 MPH

some one thought it would be a good idea to set the sat nav to avoid motorways, and major roads, still the fields look lovely :blast

16 hours in the saddle first day  on a first trip  still it was emotional

Personal best for me was 67mpg over three days from Ullapool to Fraserburgh/Rattray Head.

That's actual fuel used over the trip - not an OBC calculation. Was with my mate who was touring the coastline of Britain - we were taking all the back roads and cruising along nice and steady tourist style all day.

Normally I'll get about 50-55.

I like it when I'm rolling down a hill in 6th, 199MPG!... my average is about 60mpg, really pleased with it.

He did....................my research was a bit more scientific than Mickys though:augie

I was on my R11RT and he always put in 4.5 - 5 litres less than me at each fuel stop.........................a whole gallon over the same daily mileage............that 800GS was impressive:D

Worst was the 1150GS, the rider put in about 2 litres more than my RT at every stop and even the latest 2010 twincam 12GSA's were only a couple of litres better than my 15 yo R11RT

Mick's bike was amazing...................he always got a free lunch:aidan

Mines doing 56 but just put £15 in it and the display is saying 98 miles to fill up ????

Yes well my fuel guesstimate use to say 178miles left & count me down. Just run it down till its near 10miles then fill up. Or if your feeling curious, carry a spare container of fuel & run it till its empty to find your max range!

The fuel tank level arm only reads below a certain limit (fairly accurately even with erratic riding style) semi-accurately.

I've ridden mine to zero, and got 16.45 litres in at fill up. Usually does between 48 and 52 on the obc. However, when I go away in July with my mate who's a bit steadier, then we'll easily get 65mpg. That includes cruising at 80ish on the Autoroutes.

230 miles 82 yes 82 on obc , couldn't get more than 15 quids worth of fuel in.

Moral no 1 These F650 /800s do some good miles

Moral no 2 maybe I could twist the right hand a bit more

Fact 3 it was pi**** ing down all the way home South Wales to Preston

Ps when I filled it up it said 146 to fill up never said more than 130 before what a sad person!

Posted elsewhere on another thread some time ago...

From full tank to push did 279 miles and took 17.2 litres to fill it :clap

That makes 73mpg in my book, mixed riding with some 'razzing'
