I've not yet reached 6th gear, .. i'm only upto 3rd gear.... i've done my 600 miles in 1st and 600 miles in 2nd, and i've just started using 3rd... so i expect tobe fully run in and in 6th by summer this year.

OMG, just rushed out to the garage and checked my GS, shock horror, it has 6 gears. I have had 4 1200 GS's and never knew it had 6 gears.
Now I know why the fuel consumption is so bad.

You think that's bad ? I've just read that GS's need oil !

I heard touratwat are developing an optional 7th gear package- with the option for an extra £250 to have it in Triple Blerk colouring...

I can't find that in the catalogue. Which page is it on?

even at constant speeds at around 70 mph I frequently switch from 5th to 6th and back again every 3o seconds . I hope it will help to wear the gears more equally ............

Ah but have you got the ultimate accessory. I have a Triple Black 6th gear. Beautiful finish on it, I went for the satin one instead of the gloss black. Took me a couple of days to fit it in the gearbox but it looks fantastic. What makes it is the perspex window I have cut in the gearbox so you can see it.
