What it will have is (some) exclusivity,I read that only 150 SMT's are UK bound this year![]()
I think that because the recent 14% price hike has put a few people off.
This SMT is something like £9695 OTR !!

and I thought they said it was the best "all rounder" in the world
.Quite correct, Wine and keyboards !.
(cannot remember the last time I've bought so many bike comics) .
(weather was clear by then)Well I had a unexpectedly nice day today, took my 990 ADV for it's service at mounters and as previously requested over a month ago got a loan bike.990SMT !
Had it for the day ,took a lot of time looking it over in the garage and out on the road, shite weather for most of my time riding but it is a cracking bike. Not sure about the looks at first but as you get to climb around it it grew on me.
Fuelling is sorted as is the gearbox compared to my Adv. All round nice ride.
Got slightly annoyed at the steam coming from the front of the bike and misting your visor when you stop in the rain eg at the lights and also the fuel cap is cheap and hard work to get off.
Jumped straight back on my adventure with now sorted brakes (Nice one mounters done off there own back) and was happy to do so.
So if I was looking at a SMT and not rode a Adventure I would ride em back to back. Both great bikes even if dealing from a different pack so to speak
Some not very interesting photos after my snooze(weather was clear by then)

.It may be a good bike but at the price quoted surely a 990 Adv would be a better buy for a dual purpose bike??![]()

Hideously ugly.
My mate the local KTM dealer took his demo SMT down local cafe on Sunday.
I didn't even bother to try it.
Looks like it melted.
Yuk
I knew you would like it Steve but i'm sure you would end up hooning around at a pace that most are trying to stay away from and indeed have come to adventure bikes to avoid. If you get my drift.
Great bike though.

He's Too old and ponderous to own a KTM
Stick with your BMW and slippers Steve![]()

And I did read that you cant lock the KTM panniers to the bike.![]()
GSA: Great for the long slog,Acquits itself rather well in the mountains,is useful and quite good fun for local rides, can carry luggage, pillion with ease and has proven residuals.
It might sound clear cut to some (it is financially) but there's a little of that old buy with your heart or your head thing going on at the moment.
To be continued...................
