A (better) sump guard???????

Ditto this point.

I'm riding round northern Spain at the moment (650 Twin) and have had a sizeable dent put into the oil filter: no off-roading involved, just some debris from a pothole that I couldn't avoid and despite having a mudguard extender on the bike. :(

Yes it's a good point and I hope you manage to finish ya ride safely :thumb
I did indeed; despite the dent looking like it was nearly ruptured.

Would your finished article fit a 650 Twin?

Well, here it is Matt. Its out of 2mm and a bit `overkill` but I`ve tried not to make it too ugly or too `fully expedition` standard covering everything back to the `zorst :D

I`ve made it `height adjustable` - some lads have said they want it close and tight up to the bike whereas others have wanted some `crumple zone` (I always try to listen and accommodate as many ideas as I can as usually everyone knows better than me) so I would also supply fittings which allow it to `stand off` the original fasteners by either 5mm or 20mm depending on preference.

Price wise I expect it to compete with the very best out there but its far from cheap and cheerful - making them individually and not mass produced is very expensive but I don`t try to charge anymore than the best stuff out there at the moment - expect around £160 inc the dreaded.

Btw I think you could take a hammer to it and it would survive.

Its gone a bit hefty for me now, http://www.flickr.com/photos/cymarcbikeparts/9553730877/ was such a clean simple design, no welds, just a few bends.

Agreed, I'm probably after something a bit more light weight than the hard core guys.........

Hi Mark

I'm interested in getting one of these for my F800GS. One question I had is what it weighs. Somehow Metal Mule have made their equivalent over 2kg! But they use 4mm sheet on theirs.

Also, I had a look through your site but couldn't find one. Do you (or would you) make a side stand base extender to stop it from sinking into soft ground?

Hi mate - good idea, I will weigh it as soon as I can! Mebbe tonight......

And yes I am happy to make a foot - just gotta get the time - I`m off to Germany soon so it might not be for a couple of weeks?

If you don`t hear from me please bug me - I won`t be offended!

Proper job Mark, nice one sir :thumb

Thank you - and one kindly tosser said he preferred the first design :blast

Just goes to show I can't please all the people all the time :D

Btw I'm still interested in some lights to design some light guards.............

Hi Mark
Just read this thread, mainly because after having my SW Motech Crash Guards sent away for plastic coating and then buying an AS Bash Guard, I have just tried to fit them and found that the new AS bash plate doesnt fit with the Crash Guards!

I don't want to butcher the new AS Bash Plate as I'm sure someone will want it but wondered if yours will fit with Crash Bars on ?

cheers

Pal - all I know is that 100% the sump guard fits on the 2013 F800 Adv! Sorry, I don`t know for sure - the only thing I can say is that if you wanted to try it you could and if it didn`t fit you would get 100% refund on its safe return.

Or you could ask in the F800 section to see if any of the other lads can shed any light on it?

Sorry I can`t be more helpful but I will help where I can :thumb

Mark - I'm guessing from reading the thread, you couldn't be sure if it fits the F650 twin (08-12) but I'd be interested in finding out. I'm in Leeds so you could "test" one out to be sure - when you going / back from Germany?

Regarding the stand foot enlarger this is probably the best design I have seen.

Most others stick out away from the bike catch stuff and inevitably break. As you can see this one points inwards.
Agreed :thumb2
Like the one you posted & I'd be a 2nd customer if you made one Mark :)

Well I only have two made - in existence on the whole planet - but if you are willing to travel over for me to fit it to see if it fits that's fine - problem is I'm on crutches now for six weeks after my knee op!

It would be good to see if it does indeed fit the 650 twin though as I'm sure other riders might have an interest!

And thankfully I went to Germany before having the op..........
