Wessie was kind enough to post a thread on some London pubs:
Having visited those closest to home and as the weather was good, I thought I’d visit those in W1 / WC1 to see what was what. That they are all walkable, starting at noon, is of course an advantage.

Having visited those closest to home and as the weather was good, I thought I’d visit those in W1 / WC1 to see what was what. That they are all walkable, starting at noon, is of course an advantage.
As usual, I started by catching the London Overground at Wapping station, Wapping Lane packed at a little before midday:
Wapping station operates under a special licence from TfL. Besides lacking an escalator and having a lift that doesn’t go to the platform level, its platforms are very narrow. There is talk of TfL taking over the empty warehouse to the left of this picture and installing an escalator to go diagiinaly under the road. How that solves the platform problem, I have no idea. Unwary, until then, it’s a great little station, connecting us to the rest of London:
As we need to go west to Baker Street, we need first to go south of the river to Canada Water (visited on my last Wander):
Down the narrow steps, to the narrow southbound platform:
Canada Water is a modern station:
From here, we’ll take the Jubilee Line to Baker Street.

Looking eastwards, towards the Planetarium:
And westwards, along the Marylebone Road, which will become the Westway A40 to Oxford. The buildings along either side are all but all apartments and flats:
We’ll wander a bit westwards, past the Old Marylebone Town Hall and Registry Office, where a wedding was just emerging:

Turning left off the Marylebone Road, wander down Enford Street. It’s easy to forget that thousands of perfectly normal families grow up and live in central London:
We are now at our first pub, the Royal Oak on the corner of Enford Street and York Street:
A pint of Timothy Taylor’s Landlord and a bag of peanuts, will do for lunch:
Not a bad pub as such but a bit ‘ripped out’ for my taste. I think though it would be OK if there is a group of you.

Interesting story and brilliant images of London of today, I only know some of these places mentioned, from my youth, playing Monopoly. 
Did You pass jail okay.....and collect £200.
I will search and certainly check that out. TYPretty sure I travelled via a silver top hat., may have been the silver racing car (my fav.)
