Accelerator Module

The acceletator device is compatable with all exhaust systems regardless of cat/no cat. But you need to specify Cat or no Cat when ordering from Mavn's web site. So if you are going have de-cat headers, then buy the relevent Acc. device.

I don't understand the above quote. Marc told me it is compatible with or without the cat. If the cat is in the headers why would you need to specify it then? I think there is only one device he sells?

Just trying to clarify for when I get some headers...

The catalyst sits after the headers. You can see it, where the two down pipes merge into one, before the link pipe to the exhaust. It's that silvery looking thing. It is full of platinum sponge and a sort of brick-like pottery.... it gets very hot.... and is expensive to replace.

If you buy new headers the chances are you will lose the cat at the same time.

If so, so order Mav's device for your year of bike, WITHOUT a catlayst.

If you intend to keep the catalyst, order Mav's device for your year of bike WITH a catalayst.

Failing any of the above..... simply don't bother to fit the device....

I borrowed one of Mav's devices at the weekend.

I am not sure that the bike pulled that well through the last 1,000 of the rev's with it fitted.

I can usually get it to bang off the limiter in all gears, without a problem.

Maybe it was just me on the day? I'll have another go for sure. :D

Thanks Wapping, I really meant that the cat would be replaced by non-cat headers and realise that it was b4 the exhaust. The issue is that Marc emailed me to say that "it will work with either a cat or no cat" because when I ordered it I said it had a cat but I may remove the headers later?

Strange then, that you have to specify Cat or No Cat when ordering from his web site.

Must admit, that I haven’t tried bouncing my GSA of its limiter :eek with the module installed…..have you been track-daying at brands then Wapping.:thumb

I've asked for a picture, see what happens :D
The seller says…

“I dont have a picture, but its a resistor type chip so its a resistor essentially. For less than a fiver all in what can you expect. they do work though i can vouch for that”

And honestly what can you expect for £5? Seems reasonable to me. Its just goner do what this German webpage suggests.

No temperature compensation though, very crude.

Booster Plug ride report 3 and final

Ok
Just finished a 600Klm ride on mixed roads, winding mountain to motorway. I said I would post my findings on fuel economy as soon as I was confidant with the results.
Fuel consumption was spot on normal. 4.9Lts per 100Klm. Bike is still behaving much better than without the plug. Its not coming off.

P.S. the NTC sensor is just up near the stearing collar in clean air.

Safe Riding

Just fitted mine which was quite a challenge with one eye at the moment. Seeing consultant next Friday, should be back on bike soon:aidan

Done about 600 miles with the accelerator on now findings as follows-

Fuel consumption is practically the same as I had before at 44 mpg

At low speed the bike is definately smoother off the throttle than before

Top end power seems slightly less although I reckon this could possibly not actually be the case and it may just seem that way because the throttle response in more linear

Overall I think its a worthwhile mod and definately worth the small cost :thumb2

Acc module fitted two weeks ago but only done about 200mls :

Thoughts so far , agree with all the positive views posted, a lot lot smoother now , 'played' a bit today......roundabouts in third gear no problem at slow speed for a fast exit......filtering smoother and much more 'confidence' in bike, for me its great, i once spent hundreds on a power commander/dyno map/tune for my Vstrom to get this effect. Best £30 ish you could spend on this bike (and i've spent a lot!! ) Missus noticed how much smoother / quicker the ride seemed to be!! Get one now! :D

Done about 3000miles with the module, still can't believe how smooth she goes, especially now, sunshine and all. The big question is. She is off to the dealers for the 50k service, diagnostics...(!!!)...
Do I have to remove the module ? Will it show itself somehow somewhere ? (Don't laugh, electrician I'm not.)
If it does show, will it invalidate my warranty ?

Has anyone fitted either of the two most listed versions of these plug thingys to a 2010 gsa yet.

I’ll be testing a new Mark2 (pre-production) version of the ‘Accelerator’ over the next few weeks. I haven’t seen it yet, but it should arrive this week.

I will be testing it on my 09 GSA and my mates new 2010 GSA. So I’ll report back as soon as I’ve given it a good thrashing.:augie

FastFred – I hope your mincer gets better soon mate.:thumb

Kesha - i would remove the module before you take it for service. My dealer is fine with it, but other BM dealers my have issue with the mod.

Mine went in to the dealers for a bit of diagnostic / repair work. I left it on and nothing was said. As Steptoe correctly points out, it only a resistor. So if the tech has access to the value of the sensor it will read low and he'll soon work out why. I'd just leave it on. Unless my righ pot had just consumed it's valves, then I'd probably take it off.......just to avoid any misunderstandings.

Cheers Yonkyo. Saw consultant this morning, eye loads better, seeing me in a month just for a check-up. Going to get some new specs (no contact lenses for a few more weeks) Saturday morning in Cribbs Causeway. Hope to be riding this weekend and will give 'accelerator feedback'.:)

The diagnostic will show the engine being fooled into thinking the ambient temperature is -9 degrees.

Which can be done for 72 pence.
Out of curiosity, I’ll bite – So how do you achieve the same result for 72p
