Aftermarket seats....

Kahedo/Touratech high is the same height as OEM GSA seat. It's more comfortable but just a tad too tall for me.

OEM GS seat has a lump at the back that dug into my coccyx. OEM GSA too tall too narrow and rock hard.

I should add that I believe the Sargent seats (while good quality) will work better for taller people which maybe explains why they seem to be love or hate items.
 
If you are interested, I have a pair of Touratech /Kahedo seats that I would sell. Black, standard height, very good condition. I'm a sadist: after years of cycling, I prefer the standard seats!

As someone alluded to above, I think it is the extra width that makes these aftermarket seats more comfortable. They spread the load better and even though they are firmer than the stock seat, after a few hours you will bless them.I found the OEM seat on my 2014 LC GSA very soft at the edges leaving the centre section to bulge upwards into sensitive areas. On an earlier hexhead, the OEM seat was firmer across its width but it was still too narrow at the the rear to support the buttocks properly, resulting in too much pressure on the seat bones.
 
As I mentioned the OEM GS seat really felt like there was a lump in the base moulding sat right under my coccyx. It got unbearable after less than an hour in the saddle. The Kahedo/TT has now done at least 20K miles and I'd not go back to OEM.

bit too steep for me, dont suppose you need a pair of standard seats, or just a front, no pillions here ;)

That's what I'm getting, with the rox risers (forward as much as I can and still get the key in), it's putting too much pressure on my tailbone, might try some lower bars to relieve it, but want the standard sweep....

I recently bought one of the Saddlemen "Adventure Track" seats from the US. It has gel pads on either side and a special channel in the middle which reduces pressure on the coccyx.

The seat really is 'all day' comfortable, with no more pain after a few hours which I used to get with the std seat; and also experienced with the Touratech 'comfort' seat I bought and have been using for the last year or so. Not very impressive for a seat that cost £ 399!

The Saddlemen gets a thumbs up from me. :thumb2

The only downside is the import duty buying from the US, but I found a bike accessory shop online (JCMotors) stateside who gave me a total cost inclusive of shipping and duty. I then purchased it from their e-Bay shop listing.

The Corbin is wide, heavy and expensive but is probably the better of the two IMHO.

There looks to be a Sargent for sale on here at present.

I have a Corbin on my old H-D softail custom and it looks hard but is great for weeks of 500 mile days in great comfort. I have a Kahedo low on my TC GSA but can only survive c. 200 - 250 miles before I squirm a bit! Think I'll enquire about a Corbin. Anyone here got a good one for sale????
 
I have the rider and pillion Sargent seats and cant credit them enough great seats, also had a Tony Archer modified seat on my fazer years ago and also great seat.
 
I've just bought a Touratech / Kahedo seat to replce the OEM seat on my twin-cam and it is such an improvement that I'm amazed that BMW can get away with fitting junk as standard. Have they no shame?

I know a lot of people who are more than happy with the standard seat. We do some serious mileage on my tours and most people seem happy enough with standard. Nt me though and I wouldn't swap my Sargeant seat for all the tea in china.

There are so many shapes and sizes that I guess it's almost impossible to design something to suit everyone.
 
Just got some rizoma bars with 30mm rise but same sweep as original so gonna try them first, if I'm still getting arse ache I'll look for a seat ( or a seat comes up cheap)

Yes, I take your point about there being so many different shapes and sizes but I am struggling to understand how anybody could possibly be comfortable while sitting on a full width iron bar at the rear of the rider's seat directly in line with his coccyx!........... Perhaps they are related to one of those mystical Indians who are able to walk over a bed of nails or burning ashes in their bare feet. I can't do that nonsense either.

And the fact that there is such a thriving market in replacement seats (at great expense) should be the clue to BMW that there is a serious flaw in their OEM seat design.

Spending a fair amount of dosh on a BMW and then having to upgrade the seat, horn and lighting to bring them up to scratch is annoying to say the least!
 
When riding for an hour or more i get a pain between my bum and my balls that's only relieved by standing up while riding or getting off the bike. Once I stand up on the bike it feels like all the blood goes back into my down below regions and all is well again for a little while longer. Happy to suck it up and buy an aftermarket seat but just wondering if anyone else gets the same, and if so, which seat worked for them? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried having the front mount in high position and back mount in low to angle the seat?
