Need to replace air filter on my gsa lc but cannot find any info as how and what is involved in strip down, so to the font of all knowledge on this site,i would be grateful for any info passed.

Remove seats, then remove top centre panel of the fuel tank by removing 3 tx25 screws. 2 screws are under the front part of riders seat and 1 screw at the front of the panel by the headstock. Centre panel should then be loose but still held in place by poppers. Gently pull it off and air box will be seen in front of the fuel cell.

Hope this helps.

As above, but if you have the GSA, there are a further 2 T25 screws under the small flap on top of the tank to undo as well. It will also help just to loosen off or remove the top side cowls so as to make life easier getting the airbox cover off. All very easy to do. :beerjug:

Thank you for that extra info, as a GS owners rather than GSA, I didn't know that.

Dunno about the GSA, but the rider's handbook for my 2015 GS describes how do to it. With pictures!

Bought secondhand , guy says he cannot find book at time of sale.

That's not good! Owners manual also contains service book as part of a same book. Meaning you bought a bike without service history. Ohh dear.....

What about recording all the new parts that surely must have been fitted in those 3000 miles? Jokeing of course. My gsa has only had 1 exhaust 1 set of switches and 1 new rear shock assembly. Over 30000 miles though. Best bike ever. JJH

I fitted a K&N filter to my GSA at time of change its a marked improvement over standard, the bike revs a bit more readily and feels better on acceleration.

That's interesting the hear Terry. I was considering fitting one when I fit my Akra headers pre the Hilltop Group tuning sessions this year.

I would never fit a K&N air filter to any bike again, having had one on a Tiger 955. I found the throttle bodies had a thick deposit of mud in them - fine dust with air filter oil binding it together. Never again.

Guy bought in August, did euro trip 3000 miles then left in garage till i bought it .Nothing wrong so far 13000 miles later.

The k&n type filters can cause sticky deposits in the air intake, mainly by over oiling or not following cleaning instructions, it can cause sensor damage ,seen it a lot on cars,
the wc bikes shouldn't suffer clogging of air flow sensors so much as MAF isn't measured , only IAT and MAP,
I have a paper filter and a re map and it runs well enough for my needs,

I wouldn't bother with a K & N but go for a BMC filter instead - BMW rebox them as their own performance filter- however, R &G Racing sell them at about £40 less than BMW charge
