Well, the bikes came in this morning and all was well. Got this transporting bikes off to a very fine art now:thumb

Some of the guys took plenty of shots of the bikes being unloaded but we did it in double quick time to give us a bit of time for a ride around the area. Me and my cousin James took a few of the guys on a "getting your eye in" ride down Russian River to Jenner on the coast and then back across Wolf Mountain. I think it's fair to say the guys were staggered by this little introduction to the delights of riding stateside:D

Perfect GS country and look at that sky....:Motomartin

I thought the GS was a dual purpose bike, so an unmade road would be the perfect road...any road bike can ride on smooth tarmac..

Deceptive surface there. They are rough in places with gravel on the corners and I reckon you'd last 10 minutes on a sports bike:eek:

Good to see that someone has the sense to use an 1150. Reliable, plus on the basis of trip one they don't fall over as much:D

I regret not signing up to this trip now and I am not looking forward to having the forthcoming RR rubbed in my face. :(

I hope you don't get the shitty phase of the jet stream now that it is moving away from us. :augie

Good one's Mark

We started on teh PCH as usual in lovely sunshine:Motomartin I've ridden the road countless times and still love every bend as does Marky.d by the looks of it!

We stopped at one point for a nice view over a river and Jonno decides he's gotta have a swim. Say's it was not too cold but none of us believed him:eek:

Some people have a nose for certain things and I'm like a bloodhound for a milkshake as anyone on one of my jaunts will tell you:D

This is a Washington State version with caramel. Nice consistency and flavour although slightly runny to be top marks. 7 out of 10 for this effort:thumb

Yet again Mt St Helens refuses to bare all to another band of hardy tossers but the ride up there and back is simply staggering. No matter how many times you do it and no matter what the weather, it never fails to impress:thumb

By way of a change, we took the 101 on the west side of Seattle which runs along Puget sound and took the ferry back across to the top side of Seattle. Good value at $5 a bike especially when if we had missed it, the road route was the small matter of 185 miles:eek: All round smiles when I broke the good news:D
