Alaska Part deux.....the search for Milk Shakes

BBq time again in Montana so while I went to get teh 10 best Rib eye's on teh planet from a brilliant local butcher, Sleazy Rider was sent off to get the beer supplies. It was so good, even RTOILHEAD had a beer:beer:

Must admit it was one of the best, if not the best, steak I've ever eaten. :thumb

Boatman's Goat is so called because on the 1st trip, Boatman claimed to have seen Goats and in fact thought he'd winged one. None of us believed him because he was on high power pain killers for his back at the time and we though he was hallucinating:D Anyone who knows Symon will tell you this is entirely possible:augie

Caught a rare glimpse of the elusive Boatman Gaot today idly nibbling away at some tasty in the road:thumb
Right that,s me just in the door from me bike jaunt down to the czech Republic,

now i dont usually say things like i told you so but I TOLD YOU SO ------------------------------------------------
MENTAL CREATURES JUST RAN RIGHT OUT I think there might even be a bit of fur/hair or whatever the daft brutes are coated in still stuck to the portside pannier ( i will take a pic when i get ye bikie back) anyhoo i am enjoying your various bits of ride reports well done guyz !!!!!!!!

Change his moniker to "Goatman",

Hope you had a well-guid trip to the CR, Symon :thumb2

Al :)

The only thing that was rubbed on the steaks we had was the spice mix from the butchers. They had Skygod cooking theirs, which is a worry :)
No, no, no ....... look again: You'll find they kept him well away from the steaks. He just seems to be playing with a saucepan all on his own! Good ploy that.

(mind u i was wishing i was on the gsa instead of the paneuro 13 cos some of the road surface is just shocking:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Aidan,
I'm still on the straight and narrow inspite of the efforts of the lads here to convert me! Having a great time and learning lots from the group :rob.

I believe the weather isn't that good in Norn Iron.
Ground is bone dry here.
Snapped this on the 12 between Missoula and Lewiston today.

Chat to you and Mandy soon.

Best Pizza and the planet from Farruzzi's in Clarkston WA. Saurkraut and sausage really shouldn't work but it does:thumb All this and they deliver to excellent Riverport Brewery:beer:

I think the Mitchell brothers are enjoying it:augie

And of course no day would be complete without a Milkshake. Carla at Houghts 24 flavors in La Grande Oregon knocks up a beauty:D

People ask how I know where these places are but I have nose for a good milkshake. :thumb

You know it's a good milkshake when you need a spoon to consume it. Reminds me of the Frostys at Wendy's out there.:drool

A tad on the warm side in California today as a few of us headed toward the coast from Crater Lake for a last hurrah of some fantastic roads that you just don't get anywhere else. A spot of lunch in Weaverville CA just to get out of the heat and spotted a great old Cadillac that had seen better days.

As I mentioned, we rode one of California's finest roads called R3 or one of Bilco's bonus roads as someone pointed out:D It's about 100 miles of sweeping bends with next to no traffic and me and Journeyman just about finished of the K60's in an hour long festival of curves:thumb It's next to impossible to portray some of these roads in pictures but they are heaven on a bike with no power rangers throwing themselves at the scenery every 5 minutes.

Stopped at Mad River for a shake and it just seemed fitting:D

I thought I'd take a short cut across to Garberville and the road rapidly turned into a twisty mountain track with loads of dirt:augie How we all laughed in the heat and all the fuel lights flashing away in the middle of nowhere...... It's all part of the adventure lads:D

Nice early start from Garberville CA which is a bizarre place as it's teh centre of the dope growing scene in Humbolt County. Most people seem smashed off their tits most of the time:spl1f:

Took the brilliant top 20 miles of the PCH which is a cracking road and I'll miss the windy roads but great ones to remember on those dark winter nights:D

Down to the coast and the inevitable mist which drops the temp to about 10 degrees!! The mist always clears eventually and of course Johno took the chance of a swim in the Pacific. It looks warm but it was and always is, freakin cold:eek:

Nice little short ride inland and found a brilliant milkshake stop in Cloverdale CA about 20 miles before the end of the trip at Santa Rosa.

Great milkshake and a great smile which about sums up the whole trip:thumb I think I may go back for another one next year:D

So, that's the second trip done and only the bikes to load in Santa Rosa tomorrow. Most of the guys are on their way home and hopefully they have had a life changing experience in one way or another.:thumb

I've clocked 17,000 miles in 9 weeks and could probably do it all again after a few days off 2 wheels.

Thanks to everyone for making both these trips so enjoyable for me and I'm very proud I got 19 guys to the top of Alaska and back in one piece with no major drama's.

Cheers all:beerjug:
