All the switches on both left and right switch gear have suddenly stopped working this morning (2013 R1200GSA). The switch for the fog lights works as does the starter and kill switch, but all the others don't so no ESA / Info / indicator lights / high beam / horn or heated grips.

Could this be a fuse or a loose connector? It seems strange that both sides stop working at the same time overnight. Up to now they've worked perfectly even in the wettest weather. I tried a little WD40 but it hasn't helped.

The bike starts and runs and I have a headlight and tail light and the brake light works on both the foot and lever.

It wont be a fuse, all those circuits are controlled by the ZFE ( central electronics unit ) ECU.
Have you someone local to you with a GS911 ?
You could try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a couple of minutes then reconnect it this might reset the ZFE.
The ZFE has a permanent feed so switching the ignition on and off wont do it.

Thanks Mistacat. I disconnected the neg. lead for about 30 seconds and then reconnected it and it has fixed the issue - all switches are working now and it didn't even change the time.

I don't know anyone IRL that even owns a an actual GS let alone a 911.

The aux headlights have normal fuses (one each) in a block under the LHS petrol tank cover.

Check the wiring loom for chafing under a zip tie/cable clip. I had mine come close to rubbing through the insulation where the wire bundle runs alongside the battery. There will be many other areas to check for similar issues.

The op said that his aux lights were working OK, it was the switchgear that is controlled by the ZFE that was the problem.
The Reboot of the ZFE seems to have cured his problem.

I know what you mean about wiring rubbing through on the frame, photo of a customers 2005 RT wiring.
BMW will insist on making the looms so tight.

Not good at all :(

A less extensive fault could be why the OP's ZFE has switched out his electrical system.

I had similar issue with a Yamaha 900 - cable tie clips had been pulled too tight. They also had a wiring multiplug under the fuel tank that did nothing for the bike but was used in manufacturing. Mine fell apart so it got cut out with new wires spliced in.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is chaffing on a cable tie (although this bike isn't really that old) as I had that issue on an old R1100R and it started cutting out when you turned the handlebars to the right, investigation showed that a tie had cut it's way almost though a wire and the extra stress put on it by the turning motion made it cut out. I had to clip out several ties to loosen the loom and then splice the worn wire together.

Are the ties done by a machine or something (an angry worker maybe) because they are pulled tighter than a weight-lifters bum-hole.

Anyway if it happens again then it'll be in under extended warranty for an investigation on the 'puta.

Seriously, don't expect too much from the dealer's pooter. It will show symptoms but unlikely to diagnose which wire is broken/shorting out or exactly where on the bike it's gone down.

I had a turbo hose burst on a VW TDI - sudden loss of power and massive increase in black smoke. The main dealer connected his poot and virtually swore the filthy puthering black smoke was caused by a faulty exhaust recirc valve (EGR). I pestered them to take a proper look at all air hoses and sure enough one was split end to end and of course there were none that shape in the country. They did a temporary fix with hose tape and I avoided the cost of a new EGR.

maybe a down side of canbus, in the old days a fuse would blow and/or one function would be lost, at least you might have a clue, with no fuses the failure such as the OP has had remains elusive
