Y'know summat, Rushy. up until a few months ago I would have agreed with you. And I would also have said it's for sad people who believe that half the planet is their 'friend' and the whole place is populated with people who have no life.

But I've changed my mind now, it's turned out to be a fantastic tool for digging out old mates and colleagues from donkeys years ago. I'm back in touch with lads who I served with in the 70's and 80's and some good friends from skool who had completely disappeared off the radar.

I'm with Klanky in most aspects and definitely with all those stupid frickin applications!

I use it to keep in touch with school friends and my son in america who I haven;t seen in 5 years and he just doesn;t do e mails!

If anyone doesn't know how to get rid of the apps pm me and I'll explain!

Only last Saturday I had a drink with an ex-classmate who I hadn't seen or spoken to for 37 years. There would have been four of us there if one guy hadn't been stuck in Turkey, but we had a great night catching up.

The odd thing is we hadn't even been that close at school.

I joined up because someone started a Calum's Road group which I thought I ought to join. But it's like the absinthe diet - I've lost more days than I could imagine since I started on there.

Group A Middle aged tightwads who won't pay the fees that dating agencies charge
Group B Touchy feely types who are " in touch with their feminine side ".

The second group can be broken into 3 definite sub groups;

i Gay men
ii Straight men who don't yet realise they are gay
iii Straight men who are straight but extremely desperate. You can tell these by the amount of female 'friends' they have and the number of facebook pictures they have of women . This is a futile attempt to make other women feel that they are safe.

The ONLY thing i've seen on Facebook (watching over Lou's shoulder) that looks good is the ease of which you can upload, and therefore share, pictures especially the tagging and subsequent 'alerts' ...................the rest just looks tosh.

Unlike most forums, this site expects people to pay for viewing the For Sale section, have the ability to pm other users and use a search facility.

The site owner should remember who is paying his mortgage, its the subscribers not the unpaid volunteer helpers.
